I get 1.5 fronts to each rear. To me, it isn't worth it to have degraded performance for the last half of the front tire life.

""I'm sure the tire companies would love to have the front tire changed out every time the rear wears out. I get at least two rears to a front and could care less is my rear is a PR2 and the front a Pirelli.""

Longdog_cymru is right, IMHO ... I looked into it further, after shooting my mouth off.

Both the carcass construction (radial vs. bias, as one example) and the profile 'should' be similar. But that being the case, run anything pattern-wise or brand-wise, front-to-back.

I intend to keep Syncs on the front at all times - I love the way they track in the rain. Rear Syncs seem to burn up in 5-6K for me. I'm on Strada's now and intend to try the PR2's next. But I ride my Uly like it's a Goldwing anymore.

And like you, EG, I seem to get two to one, as well.

I will be getting a new PR2 for the rear soon, but the front Sync is easily good for another 4,000 or so. The way I use my bike I cannot afford to dump tires that have miles left in them. But then I ride accordingly also.

It will be PR2's all around at the next front change(unless like it happened to the Syncs, something better comes along).

Florida,

I choose the stree/track tire over the DOT race compound for a couple of reasons.

1) Wear - I can get more track time out of a street tire
2) Dual Purpose - My bike is a street/track bike, so I do ride on the street and like the fast warm up of a street tire.

The street tires are also cheaper, and I'm not fast enough to push them anyway. I've never had the Corsas slide on me.

Armymedic, I just put on my second set of Road Attacks on my Uly. I really like them, great grip and decent wear. I can't remember how many miles I got on the last set, I want to say about 7,000. Although I was doing a bunch of interstate commuting for work last summer. That could have sped up the wearing of the tire.
