I have been looking at the ecm spy cables. It seems fairly simple to build one from there site but there is also a lack of info on there that makes me question building one.
So if anyone out here has built these maybe you could answer a couple easy questions for me.
1 Can it be built from a USB extension cable by just cutting one end off and adding the Douche Connector to the cut end?
2 I am not a computer wiz so this one may be easy, Data + wire is the data receive wire ..correct ? And Data – is the transmit data wire ?

Ok that was it and with a little help I might be able to do this I guess. Unless I am way off base ,then I will have to breakdown and buy one .

Oh yea, you need to use a special cable, as the FTDI cable has a chip in it to convert from Serial to USB.

Froggy,
I am a marine Tech and that slang just came out so easy...we refer to them as that because it was the great idea in the marine world to stop connector failure and it has not helped,if you douche something enough...water will get in.

go online, you are looking for an
rs232 to tll converter.
then look at the pinout for the ecm, converter and usb, solder it all together.
I did it for $15.00,and an old cable.
or for about 60.00 you can buy one you dont have to screw with.

"RS232 to TTL-5V converter, which can be used to convert from RS232 to 5V DC TTL compatible levels and vice versa."
