Ok I found a couple bikes close to me. Option #1 2006/ 11,000 miles/ side cases/dealer maintained. option #2 2007 /8,000 miles/no bags.
Both bikes are the same money but I would really like to have a set of bags.
My question is are the differences or upgrades to the 07 model year worth just moving on and going with the 07.
I am asking you guys that are out there riding these things for your opinion.I understand that a newer model with less mileage seems like the right choice but then again if I have to invest $800. to $1000. to put bags on it I am not so sure.

I'm perfectly happy with my '06.

the 06 is just about broke in and ready for riding with less miles than the 07!

I have an 06 and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Only real change on the 07 is the front fork springs, but they can be easily swapped out when you do the fork service. Personally I recommend it, as it reduces the fork dive.

Great guys thanks for the input I was really leaning to the 06 and I am sure I could get the price down on that one easier than the o7 they have anyway.
I will let you know how it goes Wen.

Flhman - Does the 06 have 1,100 or 11,000 miles?

I just bought my 2nd 06. If it's a choice between an 06 with 1100 miles and and 07 with 8000 miles, I'd take the 06. It's practically brand new. The bags just make it a sweeter deal.

I have to agree. I would get the 'newer' '06 with the bags. Mine bags only come off to do tire changes and I remember washing it once or twice.

Orange is the faster color, and if it comes in the slower lame colors that can be change easily.

The two fastest colors are Hero Blue and Carbon Fiber, good thing neither of those come from the factory, the EPA would close Buell down. : )

Loving my '06 to death. Getting ready for it's 5k service and a new rear 616 (bought it as a leftover in 4/08, then spent 6 months out of commission, hence the low miles), and I may even wash it for the first time. Ever.

As noted above, no major changes from '06 to '07 aside from the fork springs, and I want to say the '07 got heated grips standard. I'm getting ready to put a set on my '06 as soon as they arrive; even heated gloves get cold on the palms with cold handlebars and 12 degree ambient temps.

10k on my '06.... I wouldn't pay a dime more to get the '07.

And I probably wouldn't ride it without the sidecases either.

I might have...but all I could think about was how freakin' cold my hands were this morning on the way in, with a dead wire to my right glove, and it was because my bike was "too old" to have heated grips standard. Brrrr. lol.

You're right, of course - it was '08. I couldn't remember if it was before the DDFI/oil pump changeover or at the same time.

Now...where's my coffee...

'07 had different springs in the front, opened up airbox, narrowed seat front, different ECM load. Folks with problematic '06's reset their ECM's from '07s.

I've had two 06's and they both ran great. So don't be afraid of the 06.Some don't like the 07 seat as much.

Another thing to consider: Is the '06 current on its maintenance, i.e., has the 10k service been done on it? If not, make that a condition for your purchase.

Consider that in another two or three months, the '07 will definitely need that work done on it, and it could take as much as $300 (lift, tie downs, manual, ECM cable, parts, etc.) to get outfitted to do it yourself or northwards of $500 to take it to the shop.

The 07 will be worth more money come trade in time, It's one year newer. Didn't the 07 come with the lower seat as well as improved fork internals?

Nothing wrong with an 06. No problems with mine so far. 12K plus miles. Go for it and spend the extra on fun stuff.

07 has a lower seat, dual rate fork springs, and a slightly improved oil pump with increased scavenging capacity.

The seat and fork springs are easy retrofits. Nothing wrong with an 06.

Y'all just inspired me to schedule my 10K service for my nearly perfect '06. Gonna have '07 springs and heated grips installed. Then it *will* be perfect.

oh... I already have the '07 seat and airbox. Both a great additions.

I think I paid about $350 for the seat (better?), springs, and air box. That reduces the delta. Factor in the expense of the bags and the reduced depreciation, and you are at about a wash.

Prolly why you are asking us huh?

I think I'd ride them both and see which one "felt" better to me and go with that one,

I echo Andrejs2112 comments. My 06 with 12K is running great and I have had minimum problems. The best motorcycle ever made for this purpose. Plenty of ways to farkle the bike too.

Go for the 06 with bags! Save your farkeling money for other things that you will want to spend on it. I got my 06 last Oct with 5K miles and bags. Spent this winter adding all kinds of goodies (HIDs, K&N, Oxford Heated grips, preeng bar risers/footpegs, GPS). I am so close to the perfect bike I can't stand it. Now I can't even wait to wake up and ride to work. No bike has made me feel that way. No regrets.

The 06 is a good bike and th 07 does not have lots of changes. Perhaps you could get them to change out the rear bearings with the black seals versus orange, they seemed to be a problem with some of the bikes. Also HMartin makes some very good points.I have an 06 and am happy with it, I traded up from my 01 goldwing. I do not feel the need to change the springs in the front forks for the way I ride, but when I next get the forks serviced I think I will swap them out just for grins. whichever you chose I hope you are happy with it.
