OK - MCSS now has rear for $110, front for $89 !! I'm tempted... even though I still have miles to go on the Distanzias. j

I picked up a pair plus an oil filter so I could use the 20% off coupon. 180 for a pair of D616's delivered to my door. Can't beat that. Best rain tire I have ever had on a bike.

Notorious for cupping. Buell didn't change to other brand tires on a whim. I'm sure that the reason these tires are being heavily discounted is because they most likely have been discontinued by Dunlop (and for good reason).

How long do they last BEFORE they start to cup ? Looking for something that will go more than 5K mi - can hardly get 1 long trip out of Distanzias or Syncs.

Check http://www.canyonchasers.net/reviews/tires/d616vSy nc.php
They went through two pairs and "Our rear tire was shagged to the wear bars after just 3,000 miles on one set and 3,400 miles on another."

This is a good comparison of the SYNC and 616. Conclusion dirt/rain get 616, mostly road some dirt SYNC.

Loved the rear, other than the low mileage, but hated the front. Made the bike so sketchy at euro hiway speeds. They were both great in the rain as well. To bad MCSS won't ship to my location or I'd consider getting a couple rear tires to have sitting around.

JPHISH- Sounds like you should look into Conti road attacks, JCwhitney F $129.99, R $166.99. Canyon chasers got 6,000-7,000 miles out of them. They would suck in the dirt though, very round profile.

I got about the same mileage from the D616 and the Sync...3000 miles.

You can't compare tire wear from one person to another, too many variables. At least with the same rider and bike you reduce the variables in the comparison and make it more valid. I got 18k on a Scorpion Sync, but that means nothing.

"I got 18k on a Scorpion Sync, but that means nothing."

That is the most I've heard anyone getting out of their Sync's, I have ridden my Dunlop D616 rear tires 10,000 miles each time and I changed out the Dunlop D616 front tire at the 20,000 service. I really like the wear and traction I get from the Dunlop D616's so I don't see any reason to switch brands. Everybody has their favorite brand of tires, that's why they make so many different kinds.

18K from a sync ?! What'd you do Froggy...turn it inside out ?? I got 6K out of my last sync rear - could have coaxed another 2K out of the front, but needed 4K range for my next trip. I'd better get more awareness of my riding habits, but it's hard not to accelerate on this thing. Got new Roadsmarts on the ST - I'll see how those work out on alot heavier steed than the Uly. Thanks for the responses. j
