Can ECMSpy be used to check my timing? If so, is there a procedure to follow that has been posted. I can't find one. |

XB's are timed with the engine off but the key on. You will find a procedure in the manual, but here's a real easy way without any electrical or computer stuff. There are those who want to see the dynamic timing from the computer and that's OK, but remember everything on this motor is skewed AKA controlled by engine temperature and RPM. and all those calculations start with the static timing set at Zero TDC. 1. Bike on stand 5th gear with plugs out (easer to turn over) 2. Remove crank timing plug 3. Lined up timing mark just aft of the center of hole with front cyl on compression. 4. Turn on key and rotate engine using rear wheel 5. Listen for the fuel pump to cycle. You want the fuel pump to cycle on when the mark it centered in the hole. |
