I know the headlight assembly doesn't fit unless you hack away like a crazy person. It did fix my dim headlight issue.

The CR mirrors would take away the mickymouse look.

That looks pretty good...Your brackets for the extra lighting look a little chunky
I can't get by a dealer as it's 95 miles away in Huntsville Alabama,to check dimensions of the mirrors. They don't list them on the Buell web site for parts.

I want to put the mirrors on and remove the original flashers and replace with aux. lights.

Only reason I haven't done it yet is because I have heard a ton of bad press about the CR mirrors. Its possible the visibility issues wont be so bad on the Uly, but I got more important projects I am working on anyway.

Yeah, when I test rode the CR...the mirrors was about the only thing that I really did not like! But the rest of the bike made me overlook the poor functionality of the mirrors.

I'll have results in a day or two. Mocked them up last night, handguards are a bitch and the right mirror base needed some grinding to clear the switch housing because of the angle it needs to be installed at to clear the guard, but it looks like it'll work and the view out back - at least sitting still - is at least as good as the stockers, for my 6'4" frame. Gotta bolt it together and test it out on the road for vibes. I may try the stock mirror bases as "bolts" to hold it all together until the correct bolts come in...

Oh, and one small extension jumper made for each set of wires made them plug and play, and a flasher from Al for LEDs brought the flash rate back to earth.

Stock signals are already in the bottom of the toolbox, their spots will be occupied by aux lights as soon as I find some I like (cheap, can be mounted "sideways", relay-driven, not bigger than the headlights).

There we go I knew someone was on this.
Thanks guys

Ratbuell I'm looking forward to your report and pics. I am not the best with the electrical side of things so may need some detail on that.

Uly__kiwi thanks for the info but I want to have the turn signals too so the aprillia's won't work... saying that I wonder if a small LED flasher could be mounted to the back easily then any mirror could be used???

I've had this setup for 2 years now with no problems. Small led turn signals are mounted in the holes for the headlight adjustment.

I LOVE the CR fairing on the Ulysses.

Now I'm convinced Buell needs to make an 1125 Ulysses, and put the CR fairing on it.

SWEET!!!

You should have some orange LEDs, just a few, drilled into the KC light so that they
serve double duty as both aux lights and turn signals.

Hey Rotorhead do you have the cockpit installed too?

I keep coming back to look at your UlyCR and it's got a cool look but maybe with some different aux lights and the xt mud gaurd..?

Are you going to install a shield? i think the palmer brackets with a smoke shield would look freakin awesome!

more pictures from the top, side and from rider position please...

I have the uly dash and the CR light. Only had the chance to get a headlight off ebay. If I ever find a totaled CR I'll get the whole cockpit and swap it out at the triple trees. Here are some pics.

The madstad brackets are choice! The lines work great with the CR front end. The windscreen is in the full up and forward position. I still have to doll up the edges and dress it up some, but when I get time off I'm riding. I got it all to function and stay put. It will give me something to do on a rainy weekend. When I see how the CR mirrors mount they will be put on too!!!

BTW
Yes, those are TKC 80's front130/80 and rear 150/70 but that is for a different thread

Dude that looks bad ass and meen!
I want that front on my Uly.

Reminds me of street hawk from the 80's

Those tires are huge, i thought they didn't make a good off road tread in that size. Thanks for the pics and keep em comin

OK. First ride report, with the CR mirrors held on as-is, by the factory Uly mirror bases: pretty good. I could tell that the right side was out further towards the bar-end at the base because I could see better. Vibes were no worse than stock mirrors, and visibility / field of vision was pretty good on the left.

Spaced them up so I could rotate the bases to a better position, and use the factory detents. Courtesy of Home Depot (a pair of 10mm x 1.25 x 50mm bolts and a pair of 1/2" copper pipe couplers from plumbing), and Mopar Performance (spare headbolt washers I had from a 2.2 turbo, 06501435). The pipe couplers were a *little* wide at the base and I didn't want them sliding down on the mirror mounts on the bars, so I put the washers at the bottom of the spacers. Ride report tomorrow.

First pics, the "original" install with no spacers. Note the angles of the bases relative to the handlebars.

Next pics, after the install with spacers. They'll get painted black once I finalize the positioning.

And no picking on my windshield. I'm experimenting... : )

Thats not bad Ratbuell. They look good, did you get them wired yet?
Have you read any of the bad reports mentioned earlier on performance issues?
How much did you get the mirrors for and where..if you don't mind?

Thanks

Yeh, they're wired. Unplugged the stockers (bullet connectors, both female), built some extensions out of zip cord and new bullet connectors (male/male at the bike end, male/female at the mirror end since LEDs are polarized), installed an LED flasher from Al at American Sport Bike (it was on my S1W with LED signals; with this weather I'm not riding it often so I'm reordering a flasher), and it's good to go.

I've read the performance issue reports, and have to say - they weren't any worse, vibe-wise, than the stockers, and they may have actually been a little better. That was before they were put on the spacers, though...being up in the air like that may make them move around a bit, but we'll see in the AM on the way to work.

I got them from a badwebber who changed to bar-ends on his CR.

Cool thanks Ratbuell, I hadn't read any of the reports so didn't know what the issue was. As long as it wasn't with the LED part then the vibes are ok.

Would a thick rubber washer between the mirror stem and base not make a difference for the vibe?
I am going to try that on my stockers...but I am sitting here twidlin my thumbs as I just had an operation and don't have flight clearance yet.

Well, been riding with 'em for a few days now, and....me likey : )

I did space the left mirror up with 2 more washers so I could rotate the base out front, over the top of the handguard. Gets it further from my shoulder (although not as far from bike centerline), and puts less shoulder in the reflection. I can see at least as much stuff with them as I could with the stockers, and the vibration is about the same if not a *hair* better. I plan on getting some small fisheye mirrors to put in the area that reflects my shoulder, to try and eliminate some of the head movement for the 'behind the rider' blind spot...but all in all, I'm VERY happy with 'em.

Now all I have to do is find some decent driving lights.... : )
