Hello Guys and Gals, I was changing my wheels, so from one was no problem removing the rotor and installing it on the new rim, rear rotor was ok too, the problem came when trying to remove the pulley, i used a good quality torx and used a long wrench, but when trying to loosed the bolt the torx spanner snapped off, the bolt is fine, i just wonder if one has removed it, and how was it done | ||

They have loctite one them. Heat them up a little and they will come out easier. | ||

What do you mean by "Good Quality". I broke 3 Craftsman torx before I plunked down the coin for the "GOOD" tools. Buy a set of Snap On or Matco Impact rated torx and save yourself the hassle. Also using an impact wrench ( I use a 3/8 blue point) they come right out. | ||

If you whack the screws with a brass drift, they will come out like nothing ever happened. (Usually) | ||

I did mine with the 3/8 impact also. Not a problem at all. Hand ratchets are hard to hold perpendicular as you apply torque. My Craftsman bits work well as long as they are seated all of the way and held straight. | ||

Heat helped the last time I had a problem. I used a propane torch like the plumbers use. | ||

Took it to a bike shop, he hammered it and then put the torx in and it released quite easy, My suggestion is when re installing put the blue loctite, that is not as hard as the red or white one it will make life easier. | ||

Buy a "slammer" and good bits. Not Crapsmen chineese junk. I replace all of mine with regular hex heads with never-seize and lockwashers. Those torx suck. I would never use a pneumatic wrench on anything that wasn't steel. |
