Hi I'm a newbie. Just brought my XB12XT home yesterday. Was going to stay on the pavement, but a nice muddy/snowy grade presented itself. While I was working my way up the grade I was wondering: What will I break first? You guys probably know and I can prevent/decrease damage by learning from you. (First thing is new footpegs with some grip.)

Your lever/brackets when you drop it, get some real dirt bike handguards...

I can't break that; it was broken a long time ago.

I haven't tried them out yet, but I think there's going to be a set on my XT in the near future. (and if they'll fit, on my wife's Ss shortly after that)

Crusty, those look like good pegs. Anyone have recommendations on sturdy brush guards?

I will post a pic of my garage soon and you will see the attendance thing is not an issue for me. Today is a problem, 24 degrees.

The PreenG foot pegs are well worth the investment - even with the allen screw mods on the stockers the mud wouldn't fall thru...with predictable results. The folks in Montana include a bushing with the pegs to make installation simple - even for us mechanically impaired.

Get a spare set of all the levers. Thats all you really need to worry about. Also get a spare drive belt to keep on the wall just in case. Better to have those things on hand instead of possibly waiting for your dealer to order one.

Crusty, the Uly pegs will fit on the XB mounts mostly fine. The "gap" between the top and bottom of the mounting thing is smaller on the Uly, so you might want to washer it.

I didn't try it while they are on the bike, so I don't know if the angle is any different. The drop is about the same as the Lightning pegs.

Your will to have a HD dealer service your bike if they do not LOVE Buells.

No, A lucky married man with two kids. I just went to look at the Ulysses, and my wife convinced me to get it! (She said I always do what I want anyway so she might as well get credit.)
