Okay,

if you've happened upon a closed road and nearly locked 'em up trying to stop so you can ride down it

if you've seen the underside of your Ulysses while standing on your feet

if your the type what gets his camera out every time your Uly is on its side

if you wire-tied a spare clutch and brake lever to a frame member because you've broke them off roading

These guys might just be for you. WE are working with them on a hand guard with cool features for the Ulysses.

I should have one on Joules soon, maybe by March.

consider the bottom of the handguard where the tips of your finger get cooled when your riding. if the can make the bottom of em longer so the tips don't get as much wind, than it should be better than stock. just a thought

That's what I was thinking...they don't look quite broad/tall enough to provide enough wind protection like the combination of the Buell+Touratech combo does. (note to Buell...make the Uly handguards taller, like the Touratech extensions do)

That looks like some nice stuff. Too bad they weren't well known enough to pop up on my google search last month. I just bought all of that stuff for my DR-Z400. NUTS

YES to all the above!!
just yesterday!!!

CYCRA probend modded to fit the bar ends in the 7/8 bar. You can see the clutch was the reason to get the handguard. It saved the brake and clutch just yesterday. If your even considering taking the ULY down a dirt road or you short legged like me, consider any option of REAL bar end protection.

Jules those look and look to perform better than a garage job I cooked up from the sale bin ($20) at cycle gear. I would have to agree with some needed wind protection from below. I shoved a cut up milk jug under mine but the blew off after a few hundred miles.

If they can come up with a way to reposition the mirror that would help a ton. kind of like how the CR mirrors are on a stand off bracket. The stock mirror always hits the ground before the bar end does. I like the idea of using the mirror imbeded in the hand guard but a stock option would be cool too.

you have to think for one minute though if they kept the clutch/brake lever intact, that's the important thing. i can ride home with out mirrors but it's a little harder to do it minus the clutch lever. i like the idea and can't wait to see what they come up with.

I hate being serious all the time. Is someone going to make humorous hand guards for not-so-serious Uly riders?

Yes, they are installed right from the factory. Humorous amounts of cost, wind protection, and lever protection. : )

As for real hand guards and other more robust items, such as separate mirror mounts, shifter, protection, footpeg mounts that are less prone to breaking, and anything else, is there any indication that Buell will issue a more off road worthy (read: more crashable) model, perhaps with spoke rims?

hey Slipknot, I'm pretty sure Pete at GrandStand Designs (a sponsor here) can get or make wire wheels for the XB's, give him a call.
