I'm thinking of doing this (don't like prying...) and I wonder what fasteners you used? Thanks. --Doc P.S. I'll admit that one advantage of the "push-on" attachment is that it's easily removable if you get into bad terrain and want to remove the windscreen in case of a fall. | ||

I bolted my Buell tall screen on in line with the recall from awhile back. They provided the fasteners as part of the recall (the original tall screen didn't come with them). | ||

I believe the intent of the push pins was to make it easy to swap the shields depending on the weather or your mood. Unfortunately even the short shield can pop out at speed. I can dig up the part numbers for the tall screen fasteners for you, or your best bet is to get the Strada brackets  | ||

I bought two recall kits 94485Y with the intent of bolting my +4 Zero Gravity solidly to the flyscreen - haven't got to as yet, though. I have the push pins now, but it is way too loose mounted with the these pins. Greg,I just used fender washers+lock nuts+bolts.Did this on my '06+'08.Just did not trust the push in pins when a 18 wheeler passes from the oncoming lane. | ||

Hi Dr_Greg, I put the recall bolt kit on my regular screen with a Laminar Lip. It was just deflecting too much for me to be comfortable with on windy days. After my tall windscreen blew off at 80mph I installed a Cal-Sci x-large windscreen and bolted it on with the supplied machine screws and spacers. | ||

Wow Froggy...you need some nice weather so you can get out and ride! I have been using just the standard pins...even though on my way to homecoming last year I had my ZG shield fly off at 75 mph. Fortunately Troyyz was able to circle back and find it for me. Honestly it was my fault as I was resting my left arm on the top of the shield trying to take a picture. But on the way back from homecoming it flew off again...without any help from me. The crazy thing was that it flew off at a time that I was standing up on the pegs, stretching my legs for a few seconds, and it hit me in the chest...which allowed me to quickly cover it with my left hand. Good thing I have cat-like reflexes!  So the moral to that story is that I believe the rubber pins weaken over time and removal cycles. When I first installed the ZG shield I used the hardware that came with my Parabellum windshield...which was not the most convenient, but certainly was the most secure. The Parabellum hardware consisted of a steel "T" nut placed on the backside of the stock rubber grommet (held in place with some glue), then a rubber laminated steel washer on top of the windshield, followed by a plastic decorative bolt cover base, with a bolt passing through to the "T" nut, and finally a plastic cap to snap on the top. This setup looked fine, and was bullet proof, but just took a little more time to disassemble. I was able to find all of these parts in specialty nuts and bolts section of my local Home Depot. | ||

I was told that I couldn't order the recall kit unless I have a 12XT even though I have the Buell tall w/s. I had to order the parts individually. (1) 57739-07Y hardware kit, xb12xt tall list $19.95 (2) M0231.1AKG grommet mount, bodywork list $1.75 Worked great. (Message edited by chrisgrant on January 31, 2009) | ||

I have four 1/4-20 T-nuts (wood points removed) lightly superglued into the isolators from behind. Four screws through the front provides a solid mount with reasonably quick removal too. Mark in Arizona | ||

I think the recall kit will only work on the Buell Tall windscreen. The kits bushings are too large for the holes in the regular screen. you'd have to drill out the mounting holes (in the screen) some for it to work. | ||

Went to Lowes, found some stainless steel bolts/nuts/washsers rubber washers and some spacers. Cost about $10 for the setup. Only problem is that you need to make sure that you get the right length screws. There is not much space behind the top screws (of course, you could reverse them and have the threads to the outside - but that looked hokey). Take the flyscreen and windshield off, go to Lowes/Home Depot and play around. | ||

666 posts...good grief. Some of us obviously have too much time on our hands. The only "beast" around Dr. Greg's place is the Uly. Well, this oughta make 667 so I'm back to good luck again.
