I have looked through the operators manual and looked all over the bike controls and I cannot find anything about 4 way flashers. Am I missing something or does it not have such an option?

Buells do not have 4 way flashers. Some BMW's have them, and if you got their OnStar like system, BMW will come to your bike if you leave the flashers on long enough.

This past Sunday the BMW club I belong to was asked to provide bike escorts for the USAT officials at a duathlon. We were required by law enforcement officials to run our 4-way flashers. Outside of that, I have only once used them, and that was during a ride where we pulled over to wait for other riders to catch up.

I also ride a BMW K1200LT & it has four way flashers and I have found that when traveling I have on many occasions used the 4 ways due to stopped traffic at road construction sites and accidents and whe following real slow traffic in real foggy weather conditions. I think they are a worthwhile option IMHO.

Buells DO have four way flashers...
My '95 S2, which has standard harley hand controls, has 4 way flashers.
Some of the pre-95 models may also have this same setup.

I think they are a good idea too.

A buddy of mine had a new Kaw KZ1000 in 1976, that had them stock. I don't know why we can't have them on a semi modern Buell.

Kisan has a module that has 4-way capability. It also has a self cancel function (time delay), turn signals as running lights, and turn signals that flash as the brakes are applied. I find that it is sometimes tricky to manually cancel the turn signal. The stock turn signal switch has to have it's lock mechanism disabled as the Kisan module works with momentary contact switches. Same reason we lack ABS, traction control, power windshields, 6 speed gearboxes, on the fly 1 touch suspension adjustment, center stand, onboard tire inflation system, and an off switch for the heated seat. : )

I had 'hazard warning lights' on my 1999 Triumph Tiger, my gfs Yam Fazer has them- I think they're great and wish the Uly had them too.
There are quite a few situations where 'hazards' would be useful on the UKs busy roads.

I found a hazard warning light kit at Hein Gericke which cost £20 and wired it up to Ulyrat but due to the strange electronic indicator (turn signal) relay, the kits sealed black box melted.
I'm no electrics wizard but can do most basic wiring jobs, I tried every which way to get this kit to work but no joy- the instructions were in German but the wiring diagram was easy enough to decipher.

I presume the kit was only meant to be used with 'standard' flasher relays which are purely mechanical (the Uly flasher relay contains a few electrical components- I opened the old one up when it stopped working).


The shop exchanged the knackered kit for a new one so I still have a working kit to play with next time someone who knows more about electrics than me is around.
