i made the mistake of letting my bud sit on my uly, so he could see if it was as high as his GS.. while sitting with the motor running, he layed it down in slow motion... what suprised me, was that i was expecting the motor to stall... instead, it almost redlined and i had to step over and turn the key off to kill the motor.. i thought these models had a tip over switch on the ecm, that shut everything down, not just a gas shut off... the good news, not a scratch on the bike... |

Yes they have a bank angle sensor that will cut the engine. You just shut it off before it did it. Your post sounds like it fell on the right, and the ground was holding the throttle open. |

Hmmm.... a few months back I "dropped" mine in a parking lot and it fell over on its left side and I experienced the non shut off like Werewulf did. My dealer tested the sensor after that and pronounced it working. Since I've not had the "opportunity" to test it myself I don't know if the dealer is telling the truth or not. I do know that my engine did not shut off and the throttle was not held open by the ground. If I recall, the throttle on my Uly is on the right, not the left. |

I dropped mine early on is a freakish accident involving downed power lines... Anyways, Mine didn't shut off either. |

It takes the BAS about 4 to 5 seconds to shut the engine off. I tested it again yesterday in some mud. I don't recommend Avon Storms in the mud or any other tire with the ULY wheel base and rake. I get the time to test it allot durring slow speed dumps driving it where many say the Uly shouldn't go. At only 5'7" I don't have the legs to keep her upright when the going gets sloppy. |

Last fall one of my friends went over an embankment of about 40 ft. I didn't take the time to put the side stand down, I just lowered the bike to the ground on its left side, so I could jump off and assist as best as I could. The BAS worked just fine at the time. My friend is fine, his new fully decked out massive Hardley cruiser 50th (or whatever) commerative edition suffered $23,000 damage. He is giving up his MC for a jet ski for his vacation home and says that as little as he rides he will just rent a bike from now on. |

i should have known better, as my buds bike has a lot of road rash from falling over.... he blames it on old age, but hes younger than me.... i was so thankful that no damage occured, i didnt say anything.. |

Mine didn't fare quite so well. The handguard did a masterful job of not protecting the brake lever. The lever broke right off. Replacement was $45 bucks (I later found them advertised for less). That's darn near the cost of a set of bar ends. |

Get some "real handguards"...the stock ones do not protect the levers in a fall... I have the Acerbis on my ULY...dropped it on the blacktop...no damage to the levers... |
