When I bought mine I looked them over and had no expectation of them being water proof. Also, by looking at them I figured they would not do as winter gear, ala light material and no flip-zip collar. I guess he expected something different than what was visible in the store. Maybe he would rather ride in warm weather with those thick bulky water-proof riding suits that he seems to have avoided by picking the Adventure Gear? Different suits for different weather, eh? |

I have the jacket and it's NOT waterproof! But a super summertime riding jacket because of the ventilation so don't expect it to keep you warm when it's cold out. I keep a sweatshirt in my saddlebags for when the temperature drops on summer nights while riding home. I rode it everyday at homecoming last year. |

Waterproof it is not, but I like it anyway. Really, most waterproof gear is only water-resistant anyway. I carry a real rain suit in the bags. Besides, it gets pretty hot here in Fla.... there is never enough airflow in the summer. |

The biggest betrayal is that it's uglier than a neon Aerostitch one piece. Bleh. |

Fats, after reading where you said it was ugly, I went back and looked at the picture. I don't have that jacket, I have the Vanson Buell jacket XRUJ or something like that. Buell doesn't use Vanson for their clothing supplier so my jacket is no longer offered. |

I know mine held up real well at Road America in 2007 when it was 90F and I was flopping and rolling on the go-kart track.(I meant to tuck and roll) I carry a rain suit, and a sweat shirt all summer. I add electrics to that in winter. |

The one in the picture looks awful. Looks like a garbage bag lined with duct tape. I think Spike created something similar for MBV to ride in the rain. |

The one in the picture looks awful. You're just jealous! YOU can't make one look good by wearing it. Too bad. Several of us have them, we like them, and dammit.....they look good on us!! |

Another genius with a blog. I have seen some weather resistant zippers and they are not in this jacket. Again, blame poor marketing, opps the mothership is responsible for that again. Flashback to the TT. |

Olympia AST jacket. Reasonably priced works as promised. |

Agreed. The AST is an awesome jacket. However, Olympia has to do a little work in the pant design. Unless you're pretty thin, they fit too snug to be practical. They are made of very stout materials with a jeans like fit and no gusset in the crotch. I'm 6'2, 220 lbs, 36" waist, and very flexible and athletic, but if I'm wearing their pant with the liner inside, it is very difficult to throw my leg over the Uly. I finally gave up on the pants and mated my AST with a Tourmaster pant. The Tourmaster's finish isn't as polished as the Olympia, but the fit and function is much better (IMO).
