Yep, repost. They replace the wellnut that has a nut embedded in the rubber (which can rip) with a rubber bumper, a washer, and an external nut.

I still have yet to get anything about this or even a call from the dealer. Wish I could just take the flyscreen in.

Anyone know why the 06-07 models are not included in this?

They didn't have the tall windscreen. The "issue" is only for the tall (XT/XP) windscreen, as installed at the factory. I don't know how they handle P&A tall screen purchases...or if they can even track them.

I had the recall work done last week. I was a little confused when they rolled my XT out of the service bay, as I thought this second recall was for the upper fasteners. I didn't know that this was a recall on the fasteners that were the fix for the first recall. Oh well. It only took ten minutes and they washed my bike for me, so I was happy.

They gave me a choice, but I think they would have done it anyway. They hate dirty bikes.

Only time mine gets washed. My Jeep has been washed 3 times, it has 111,000 mi. on it. They told me mine needed it at the 1000 service. But they didn't have the parts in. I thought they would have did it before I bought it. It was built 6 months prior to my buying it.

Had my windshield off today. Had to take the entire front panel off with the shield attached to undo the two bottom lock nuts installed with the allen screws. The top attachments were mushroom head pins through rubber washers. Had to force them out with a blunt instrument. Don't think that thing will be flying off anytime soon.

That's funny right there. I must say though that I have washed my Uly more than any other vehicle I have owned. 2x in 2k miles. I figured with it being air cooled having mud and cow turds clogging up all the cooling fins on the block probably was not a good idea

I never did get a recall notice on my Buell windshield and yesterday at 80mph it came off hitting me in the head and damaging my helmet. Do you think Buell will replace my helmet? It eas quit upsetting at the time, I didn't know what happened.

I have read some where that this happened to someone else and it runs in my mind that they took care of the problem vary well. I'm not able to find the thread where i read it but I would try Buell customer service or maybe hit Court up about. Just my thoughts.

No recalls are sent to purchasers of the accessory tall windshield, as they don't attach to a VIN number directly. Only owners of bikes (XT, XP) that leave the factory with the tall windscreen receive recalls.

I have already purchased new well nuts to replace my old broken ones. Will these be confiscated if I have the recall service done?

Probably, unless you want to hold off until those let go and then get the work done. The new setup replaces the wellnuts with a rubber spacer, a washer, and an external nut - no more nut ripping out of the spacer.

I'm experimenting with a winter franken-shield right now. I'll probably end up with old wellnut fasteners up top, and the new style down low.

This may be a repost but thanks for reposting anyway. I would have never looked for the problem if I hadn't seen this thread.

I have a 2008 12X with a XT w/s so since I found this thread I decided to check mine and guess what I found. One side had completely failed and I didn't even know. This thing would have likely flown off in my face on my next ride. I found that I cannot buy the new recall kit for my bike even though my well nuts have failed. I called Sid at Stone Mountain Buell in GA. and he was great at trying to get me the right parts that I need so I don't die from my w/s coming off. He just called me and said that he finally was able to get an answer and has my parts ordered from Buell.

Thanks Sid for your hard work in this matter.
