Starts out simple enough, going to finally get my uly.Bid on a nice one on Ebay, lost the bid in the last 15 seconds.Searched all the dealers, went back to buy one 2 days later to buy one the big multi-brand dealer had, sold it that morning.Back to craigs list, found one,6k didnt say good shape in the add but I went to look anyway.Had minor lay down damage both sides. He had all the repair parts and the hard bags low seat and service manual for 7400.I took it for a test ride and thought this thing makes alot of clunking noises at idle, owner said it always sounded like that but we could take it to a dealer and have it checked.I thought what could be wrong its only 2 years old,so I bought it.
Rode it home 60 miles pulled in the garage and the smell was bad and loud noises, startedto check it over and found no trans fluid in it?Called the former owner and he said he must have drained it by mistake when changing the oil and he would pay for repair.
Had the trans overhauled at Buell dealer, took 4 weeks.Rode it home and pulled in the garage and looked at the bike it was covered in oil from the engine back.I cleaned the bike at checked the leak, rear cyl. rocker cover gasket was sticking out.Loaded the bike on my trailer and took it back to dealer.Picked it up 1 week later and the check engine light was on.
Kept my cool, walked up to the showroom and bought a brand new fancy yellow 06.I kept the bags the low seat and manual.
They gave me a fair trade price and low price on the new bike so all is good and I love my uly.
I've many dual sports and sport bikes and this is the coolest and best handling bike ever.
This forum is great with lots of cool riders. Thanks everyone.

Wow, what a story. I was thinking that you were about to say that you were now in jail after killing the previous owner or someone at the dealer. Ride and enjoy!

BTW...don't use the 2006 break in procedures, find the 2007 procedures.

"What could be wrong with it?"

Isn't that every rednecks last words? : )

Glad it all worked out in the end after getting screwed over!

"Riveting" Rex Reed
"4 stars" Boston Globe
"The must see adventure of the season" Chicago Tripune
"Fun for the whole family" The P.I. Seattle
"It'll take you to the edge and leave you covered in motor smoke and oil" WWE

I always wondered who these movie review chumps are and how they get paid to say the most inance stupid things about a movie they probably never saw. I want that job.

Ride safe, ride often, welcome to the Buell side of things.

And whatever you do, DON'T use the torque specs from said manual for the oil drain plugs... even on Buell's website in the '06-'07 online manuals the spec is wrong.

Just use a new o-ring, the sealant, and tighten snug with a box end wrench. You've had enough oil-related woes already, you don't need a stripped swingarm on the new one!

Glad you worked it out!

First, welcome to the club, and enjoy ! Your first experience was just a test.

I use the 5/8" box wrench to LOOSEN the drains, but use a 1/4" allen to TIGHTEN it.
(The drain plug has both)
The allen wrench gives a lot less leverage when tightening.

Your right floridalime,I had my metal tested.
Irode the bike 500 miles before the snow and ice came and did the first oil change before I parked it,added syn3.
Thats the short version of the story,I added trans fluid and rode that bike 600 miles before repair.

CRAZY Thanks everyone
