I'm trying to take my belt tensioner pulley off and it's being a bear. I've had it off several times, but now it's not coming off. It's loose on the front stud, but real tight on the rear. I can't think of a way to get even pressure on both so I can evenly pull it off. Any advice? |

Loosen the axle pinch nut. Take your rear axle out as far as the step down part, about a 1/2 inch after the threads end. That will allow the belt to loosen. Then tap the part of the tensioner that is sticking out back in, and start over. |

Why are you taking it off? |

The rear tire is off and everything is loose. It is just hanging up on the rear stud. I can wobble the arm on the front stud. I think it may be some blue loctite gunk keeping it on. I wonder if I sprayed brake cleaner in there...Would it eat the residue? I am taking it off because I would like to clean it, and the stuff behind it. It is cold and snowy here and I am that bored. |

Did you pull away the footpeg mounting bracket? |

Yes, I did pull the footpeg mount off. There is nothing blocking it from coming off, It just won't come off. I know that it has to come off evenly or it will bind. |

a little heat should loosen the loctite. I have never used loctite on my bike and it holds together just fine. |

Heat did the trick. Propane torch on the stud for a bit and I just worked the part back and forth. It came off. Thanks for the tip Panhead Dan and New12r. |
