Lemme see what happens with the local one. I need side cases, too. I would actually prefer the bike to be as close to bone-stock, as possible, but I see you're willing to re-fit stock muffler, etc. |

Yeah, I can refit the stock muffler. Besides. It might be the only chance I have to meet the great Dr. Greg. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on December 30, 2008) |

I also have the stock handlebar mount and could probably get my hands on the original handlebars. I still have the original hand guards and mirrors. I can also remove the HID kits and return them to stock bulb configuration. |

FB: Dang, I wish you hadn't already sold the side cases. Since my local dealer basically said "FU" to me, I'm still looking. Do you still have the original ECM? Looks like stock windscreen (which is what I'd prefer). |

I have the stock ECM. I can take it completely stock. It is the original windscreen. I'm going to have to pay the dealer to do the clutch. You are a man about a tool box. I'd be willing to discount the price if you want to do it yourself. I'm trying my best to keep you in the Buell family. |

FB, Yep, I can certainly do the clutch. Now, my clutch was solid at 55,000 miles. Has your clutch been, um, abused? Hmm, seems like I've heard some stories about your riding... Re the '07 fork springs: I liked the '06 suspension very much, and I'm a skinny bstrd. Can you refit the '06 springs as well? |

Why you sellin' it ? |

I don't believe I have the 06 springs any more. The only difference between the 06 and 07 springs were that the 07 springs were "progressive" to minimize front end dive. I don't think you would notice any negative effects. If you don't like them, I'm sure that when you do your next fork service that you could get an 06 owner to swap with you for the 07's. I don't know why the clutch went early. It was a shock to me as well. I believe that maybe I had a bad adjustment. In spite of what you have heard, I am not that crazy a rider. I can't even wheelie. Hell, Vern can wheelie. I tend to be fast, but that's about it. The calipers also have Lyndall's on them. I don't know if you use them, but if you haven't they are my favorite. |

Why you sellin' it ? I owe on the bike. I don't know what my current job has in store for me for the 2009 year. I hope it's good, but if it isn't, I'm throwin ballast over board. Time to ride a little higher in the water. I can always buy another bike later. |

Fatty - sorry to see you leave the B'ULY family. But if Doc can get it...it's still in the family...and by convention, so are you. Hope all works out in your favor. The Universe will provide. 'chow' j |

I've got '06 springs (somewhere) if it will help close the deal for you Doc. But I do agree with Ft_bstd...you will either not notice a difference, or you will like them better. |

The calipers also have Lyndall's on them. Oops, that's the deal-breaker. I foolishly fitted Lyndalls when my original pads were toast. Turned my disc into a potato chip. New disc, new stock pads, all good again. Yeah, I'm an anomaly... Anyone out there got an extra set of side cases and brackets? Oh yeah, what fuel mileage were you getting? A good-running '06 oughta do 55+ on the highway at 70-75 mph. At least mine did. And is the oil cooler line separator in place? |

Separator is in place. I normally get 49-52 on the interstate. Then again, I got a little weight on you. I may have the stock pads left. I'm workin' on that to. |

i was afraid this day would come fat. but you have to do what you have to do. family first always. like an old buddy of mine always said "you do for family, what you normally wouldn't do" any chance that you'll stop on down in suches come march. if nothing else just for shits and giggles. |

If things go well, I will be in Suches. Bike or no. Hopefully with bike. It's one of those things. Since I'm 100% commission, I'm either running good or ain't runnin'. I have to make sure I'm running good. |

Yep. Buell is more than just ownership. Ya got that right. Hang in there Ft_B. If I hadn't paid cash for my Uly I'd have had to give it up by now too, may still have to... Good luck on the sale, hope you get what you want. |

I remember when I was in Iraq in 2006, Ft_bstd was very active on Badweb even before he purchased his uly. So I'm sure the future will be no different. Although I must admit that I would have guessed that the sale of his Uly was due to him buying an 1125CR! |

What do you do that has you 100% commission? I work for an insurance wholesaling company. We are the guys that come up with all the great ideas that your financial advisor, wire house broker, and bank wealth manager brings to you. Unfortunately, both the clients and the brokers with whom I work with have been a little "distracted" as of late. This results in nothing being done. I also have a limited "territory" in which to practice my trade. When I do what I do, I am friggin' Yoda, but someone has to want to "buy" Yoda. I'm hoping things rebound quickly. They usually do. What sucks is that there is no "base". There is no net. There is only what I kill and drag back to the cave. Sometimes I drag back wooley mammoths. Sometimes I drag back mice. That is the blessing and the curse of both self employment and 100% commission sales. That IS the American Dream. That, though, is also the nature of business. You have to be willing to make the tough choices when they are necessary. I will work to pull things together and will know soon the lay of the land. I am looking at a couple of other opportunities. We'll see. In the meantime, I am lightening the load and hope someone will get a really well maintained exciting machine that has been a sheer joy to own: } |

My mission is commission!! BUT I do get a base salary.... Plus commission... Every month is the same lately.... Beginning of the month, stressed out like a MOFO wondering if I am going to sell enough stuff to cover the bills. Back in the good ole days... I had so many orders pending the only thing I needed to worry about was if the shipments would get to me on time to fill the orders and then to the end user in 1 piece. DAMN IT!! I MISS THAT!! |

I am very fortunate that my Uly is paid for. I have been off work since the end of September myself. If I had payments I would have to sell mine |

I think you are to be commended for your personal wisdom. I've owned, over the last 20+ years, many Buells though pretty much the daily menu of life's ups and downs. I've likely witnessed more such cycles than many here since 1987. I, based on screwing the process up in the past, think you are doing precisely the right thing. I'd suggest you sell the bike, stay here, carry out your plan as times change. I have never had this happen when, at the end of the offending event, Buell didn't have something shiny and new to once again draw my lust out. You're a smarter than ordinary fellow. |

Fatty - You're way too modest! Your wisdom is legend...with wit & humor to match. You made the right decision. Things will turn around - they always do. I suspect Buell will continue to assemble Uly's, giving you time to ride out the doldrums and search anew for your next one. Got Jan 20th to look forward to - can't happen soon enuf. Anyway... heres to a better 09' for all of us. Be well. j |
