Looks like the MOCO is making plans to build a new Italian sport bike with the 1125 engine. It also looks like they may be talking with BMW about engines too.

And why has Buell not leveraged the BRP 450cc with a modified chasis for Dirt?... .
: | Damn the AMA. Damn their Racing classes. Its nice to know that a sanctioning body that is supposed to be for the benefit of motorcycles and riding has the ability to KILL a bike.
They will not be getting my renewal.

Show me the $$$$! Buells are affordable Cagiva/MV isn't. I doubt that the Elefant is going to make a splash for the current market. It will still remain a niche ride for people who have the $ to spend. The average Buell customer doesn't have that kind of change. Beemers and Ducs are a good example as is the current line of MV, Guzzi, Aprillia, etc. At least I hope I'm right on that prediction. I'd sure hate to see Buell pushed out of the market. Even at my age (61) I might want to buy another Uly sometime if I wear this one out or go deer hunting with it like Dr. Greg.

Sounds like mother HD has big plans for Cagiva. I am glad to see that but what about the redheaded step child Buell? Is HD going to go the road as GM and spread its self to thin? I hope not. Instead of Cagiva with the 11225 how about a Buell with the M4 Agusta motor? I forgot we are the lowly entry model

" It also looks like they may be talking with BMW about engines too. "

And people got all torqued over Rotax/Austrian engines? Wait till they see where the BMW small displacement twins are sourced.

Maybe the Harley is trying to get a volume discount on Rotax engines and this would benefit Buell by allowing them to further reduce prices on the CR and R.

You know, it's funny, because I own both a Buell and a BMW, so I follow both markets. There was a huge uproar about the new Chinese made motors. However, folks who own or have ridden the new 650 and 800 bikes, love them. People still talk about the sourcing of the motors, but to most people it's a non-issue now because they really do feel like a BMW engine still.

Maybe they would get a discount on the Rotax to allow them to reduce prices, but I don't think they would reduce them. When was the last time you saw a list price for the same model go down?

Last year.... the XB12R was 10,495 and now they are 9995

You are correct.
Maybe I should have been clearer.
When was the last time you saw a list price for the same model go down.....because the manufacturer saved money on parts from their supplier?

We were (Electraglider_1997) commenting about a discount from Rotax lowering the price of the bike.

Probably the price of the XB12R went down so they could try to still sell them when they are sitting next to the 1125R. My guess is that the XB12R sales dropped off a lot last year because of their own competition from Buell so they dropped their price. Not due to a savings on parts from suppliers.

Just keeping the price the same would be something when you consider how most products use new model years as an excuse to increase prices.

Prices on raw materials is dropping like a rock.

Steel prices have went down so much that some of my suppliers have dropped their prices and I'm sure the rest will follow suit.

I don't think its going to matter much what they charge for bike.
Hi or low nobody has the extra $$$ laying around to blow on a bike.

To get back to the thread.
How about a Buell,Cagiva,Piaggo dealership.
No MoCo to deal with.

Don't forget MV - but that would be a messy dealership. There would be drool everywhere.
