Hello, I have a uly 2006 and i'm wondering it he triple trees of a 2008 would fit on my bike, as far as i remember they give more degrees of turn, so when parked i wont need to do so many back and forwards to turn the bike around. Thanx, have a nice ride. | ||

Next to my heated riding gear, the '08 triple clamps were the best addition to Joules. It's not a hard swap either. Only two issues: fork lock no longer reaches so is non-functional and you need a tamper resistant torx to get the ignition switch fastener out. ~jammer | ||

I got my security bolts out with locking vice grips, and replaced them with non-security Allen key bolts. | ||

Apart of the steer lock modification and buying the triple tress, is there any other part needed? do I need to readjust the suspension as right now it's ideal set for me. Thanx to all and have a merry Xmas and a great start of 2009 | ||

I just ordered from Chicago HD. The trees were $118.00 and the springs were $37. and change. Unfortunately I'm in Illinois and got hit with the 9.78 sales tax!! Glad to know I'm keeping mayor Daley's dream alive! Looking forward to lower gearing and better steering in the boonies next season!  | ||

I am late to the conversation but I wanted to add my vote for the 2008 trees as the best mod I have made. Well worth the effort. Not only for making tight turns around the garage and parking lot, but also for the way it improves overall handling, at least for me it did. The bike has a more stable feel, yet still turns like magic. I confess when I installed the trees, I also converted to the Scorpion Sync tires. The combination transformed the riding experience for me. The ignition lock pin issue is up to you, ignore it if you can live without a fork lock. I made a new pin but it is a touch too short so I need to do it again, someday. My technique for making the pin was to use a drill press and a cutting wheel on a 4 inch hand grinder. Spill the steel rod in the drill press while grinding the grove with the cutting wheel. Its not a lathe but its accurate enough for this application. For replacing the fork springs I was able to use one of those ratcheting tie-downs to compress the springs. You will need a cartridge fork tool kit, but using the tie-down eliminates the cost for the pricy spring compressor. This winters project is to ceramic coat the exhaust. Life is good ! Jim |
