Well, since my 'event' in July I seem to get cold more. Don't know if its because I'm still not back in shape 100%, or because my circulation has changed, or what. But whatever.

I'm looking at the Cee Bailey windshield. I like the one piece design and it seems to be pretty good sized for winter wind protection. Anyone out there used one and have thoughts? If you have, please include your height and your shield's height, thanks!

Modified my Cee Bailey a couple of years ago and it works quite well for me.

I have heated jacket liner and gloves.

I spent 6 weeks in a hospital bed this summer and have titanium-boned legs now. My circulation is...different than it used to be. Not to mention, I'm still not back to the shape I was in beforehand - 30 lbs lighter doesn't help in the cold.

I was just out riding in 24 degrees with 40mph wind gusts. Brisk. Just want something easy to swap, that will block some of the torso-push (I'm 6'4") in the cold weather. I have a wintertime +4" from Gustafsson for my S2 and it works awesome, thinking the same idea for the Uly since it seems to be my bike of choice for salty winter roads.

Ratbuell- I'm watching the thread carefully. I'm 6-4 too and would like better coverage with less buffeting. I can't afford to spend $900 chasing windshields.

My Cee Bailey experience was all bad news. First off, the predrilled holes did not line up, then it snapped in two during one of my trips. (see my profile) Then CB would not offer any type of refund. Missed their warranty by two weeks.

Currently I have a Parabellum with the palmer brackets. Well made, sized to fit, couldn't be happier.

I didn't like how my CB worked but I have no complaints with how the company treated me. They sent the wrong windshield to begin with but made it more than right by sending me the correct windshield and I got to keep the other one also. The buffeting with the CB's was terrible but I modified mine and it works pretty good for me now. Of course I agree that modifying should not have been necessary but at least I was able to make the windscreen work. Most everybody modifies their ULY's anyway.

just recv'd new cb 16in (tallest) for my '08 xt. I'm 6'1 and have a '07 seat. It works great with only mild buffeting. It was sent to the wrong address down the st. but 2 wks later cb discounted 20 bucks for the hassle. Hate to hear about one breaking in half !

Toby,
Add Slipstreamer rods that will attach to the handlebars and you'll not have to worry about the CB breaking. You could still attach your CB to the fairing and use the rods and they definitely keep the CB from flexing and rattling at idle.

The A1's are the size that would work.
Here's how I've used them with a modified 16" CeeBailey.

They'd work without modifying the CB like I've done.

Thanks for the info and pics. Looks like you've done a good job. I need to ride around awhile with what I've got before any decisions. So I'd like the temp to at least go up to the 40's here in central ky. Any other mods you've done to your uly you recomend? I've got the '07 seat, 1in bar risers and exhaust wrap. Without a doubt , the best riding bike I've been on( mostly h-d's ).

Hugh,
I would have kept this setup with the Slipstreamer Hellfire windshield but it was just maybe 1 or 2 inches too short for my 6' height. Had I tried it with an 07' seat it probably would have been perfect but I like my 06' tall seat. If you are under 6' and with that shorter seat the Hellfire would work great.

I show the rods attached to the handlebar cross brace but they will attach to the 7/8' bars easily as I've done with the CeeBailey mod.

>>with less buffeting<<

I have road tested several hundred bikes now.

I'm 6'5"

I have never used a windscreen bigger than the standard Uly one that does not buffet and make a racket more than any other benefit is worth. Not one of them.

I now seriously dislike them and if possible ask for them to be removed from the test bikes before I collect.

Wear better gear.

Dave,

At very near the same height as you, I can deal with the physical effects of the wind and I have enough gear to stay warm. What I can't deal with is the helmet noise. I've got the best NRR earplugs I can find and it is still irritating for long days. With moderate hearing loss, it is extremely irritating. I just need a way to get in clean air, or eliminate the buffeting.

Your input is appreciated because I don't want to spend a lot of money unnecessarily chasing "quiet" windscreens. I think my next move will be to try the flyscreen "wings" that another badwebber posted about a while ago.

I use the Cee Bailey windshield and like it very much. I bought I believe the medium length for my 6'1" frame 06 Uly. I agree it does not look the greatest but works very well. I also do a lot of long distance riding so the wind protection is important.
