I fell in love with a 2009 XT at the Seattle bike show. I've test ridden it and LOVED it! Before I plunk 12 large on a bike, I want to be sure it's a well sorted machine. Thanks for any constructive input. I Like this site alot. Peace.

Joes Buell shop salesman:
"Well, we have blue ones, red ones, and one 2008 black one left. They are, how ever, somewhat scattered about, intermingled with a blue XB12X and some lightning longs. Perhaps you should wait until we line them up by color or is it by serial number you prefer?"

i don't know about the '09's, but i'm still having issues with my '08. i would stay away from them, unless you have a very good dealer near you that doesn't mind warranty work...

I have had my 09 xb12x for about 6 weeks and 1300 miles after having an 06 for a year and 13,500. There are a few significant differences, the most noticeable was the fueling on MY 09 was buttery smooth, all the way from idle up. Reliability is an unknown, as I don't have enough miles on mine to comment, but one would assume it is solid, since most of the notorious issues on the 06/07 bikes(77 plug, fuel pump, etc) were addressed with the release of the 08. Good luck.

I don't know about the '09's but my early '06 Uly with 7500 miles has been great.

I've had no issues at all with it since I bought it new.

Still need to have the side stand recall done as well as the BAS update.

There were issues with the 09's? First I am hearing of it, and I live on here.

I bought my 09 x at the end of last August. At around 400 miles check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealer and they had it for a week. Had to call them everyday to see where my brand new bike went! They said the computer had to be replaced. (ECM) The next weekend while out on a nice long ride through the mountains of West Virginia, check engine light came on again. Had no choice but to ride it back home after checking all vitals that I could. This time bike was at the dealer for 2 weeks while they said they had to wait for an exhaust actuator. I had to call them everyday until they got sick of me. Have 3000 miles on bike since and it is a really nice riding machine. But I was not happy for the first few weeks. The best part is the dealer would not cover the 1000 mile service for me while it was in for part. Cost me 200.00!!
While the bike is nice, check who you buy it from first! I hope my gremlins have left me alone for a while.

The servo failures often are just a bad ground.

I had a bad exhaust actuator issue (w/ check engine light) on my '08 XT. The dealer send it would be a week or so to get the part and that it would be fine to kept riding the bike and they would give me a call when it come in. They did I setup an appointment and they fix it and did the 1000 mile service while I waited. Bumpus in Murfressboro, TN has to be one of the best Buell dealers for service.

The 08 and the 09 are for the most part the same bike so I would think you can group reliability reports together.

I'm not sure exactly what the cause of the servo problem was, but when you would turn on the key, before you turned over the engine, it would make a clicking noise and sounded like a stripped out gear or something. I lost faith in the dealer also, I wonder if the ecm was bad at all, or if it was just the servo the whole time.
