I am seriously looking at the 09 Ulysses but cannot decide between the XB12X and the XB12XT I am old 65+ and 5'10" 255# and have ridden since I was 10. I like the lower stance of the XT but like the forks & suspension travel of the X. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks in advance. |

I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam. I'm fine with my 06 Uly and the low seat. The tallness of the bike does take a little to get used to but I've had no problems. |

Im 60 yo, 5'8", 30" inseam. 08 Uly (X model) As Stevem123 sez - takes a little getting used to, but manegable. Don't forget the X also has HD wheels & 74* steering lock - but likely won't matter much unless you intend to take it down the dirt roads less traveled. XT was my 2nd choice. j |

I am 60 years old, 5'7" with a 29 inch inseam. I ride an 08 X. While the height does take some getting use too, I love the bike. I can not flat foot it at a stop; but I really like the clearance for rough roads. We do quite a bit of two-up on dirt, and the X is really suited for this. Two up it compress well to flat foot it at stop. It did take a while for both my wife and I to learn how to mount it being short of stature and not quite as flexible as I use to be. |

I came from a dual purpose riding style, (honda xr650/ suzuki dr 350) so for me it was a gimme to buy the "x" , but the standard luggage on the xt is a big selling point. However if you love to see over the roofs of cars (and most suv's) the x is where it is at. I personally think bike does not feel as tall as it looks while you are riding. |

I'm 46, 5'9", 30" inseam. My '06 Uly (X) was definitely too tall before the lowered seat, and occasionally catches me out even now. Unless one expects to go off-road, the XT should have fine suspension travel and be more manageable at slow speeds. The bike is awesome. |

Ah ha, you guys are old. I'm a still wet behind the ears 42 year old. I stand at a commanding if not towering 5'6" with a 28/29" inseam. I just picked up my 09 12X on Thursday and boy am I happy with it. My first real ride was a couple of hundred miles yesterday. Typical NYC/Long Island traffic, so I just rode up the curb and into the grass and rubble on the side of the highway and passed them all at about 40 m p h's. I could see over most of the traffic and had no trouble not being able to reach the ground without sliding half off the bike. I would think about what type of riding you're gonna do and test ride them both before buying either if you're not 100% sure as to wich would better suit you. |

I think there were 4 curves in Kansas. Only thing worse than traveling East to West across Kansas was having to go West to East across it a week later. Wait the drive thru at Micky Ds doesn't count as a curve does it? Ok, 3 curves. |

Ourdee, yes, there are a "few" curves in Kansas and no, MickeyDee doesn't count. Actually here in south central Kansas there are a couple of roads with a few decent curves. In other Kansas locations there are some really nice roads, especially in the northeast part around Leavenworth. I can't wait for warm weather to ride some of them on my Uly. |

Thanks for the input, I had forgotten about the ability to have more turn angle ability with the X over the XT. Also just to let you know Nebraska has more than 2 curves, just check out our entrance & exit ramps on Interstate 80. |
