I'm as tired of this subject as many of you probably are but so it goes.

I have the Buell tall windshield with a Laminar Lip. The airflow is great up to 60mph then the head buffeting starts.

My question is, has anyone compared the tall shield w/Laminar Lip vs. the stock windshield w/Laminar Lip?
I don't have the stock shield anymore so I can't test right now and I really don't want to buy one to test with if it's going to be a waste of time.

I'm 5' 11"

Wouldn't the standard w/ LL be pretty much the same as the Tall WS by itself?

I have the stock windshield w/ the lip. For the most part i don't get any head buffeting, any that may occur I just lean FWD and it goes away. I generally ride the HWY at 70 to 75mph. I'm 6'1.5". I'm not to sure if my helmet plays any role but I have a Nolan now and did ride w/a AGV, to me there is a difference in aerodynamics between the two. I mounted the LL about 3" from the top of the stock windshield.

I also have a Nolan helmet as well. As I go over 60mph I can lean forward and have the buffeting go away. It's not a position I would stay in for any length of time though.
I started with the the top of the LL level with the top of the windshield but through testing the lower I placed the LL the better it got. The LL is now about at the bottom of the windshield where it works best. I'm guessing it's about as good as it's going to get but I would love to clean up that last little bit of turbulence!

I have the stock screen with a Laminar Lip. I am 6'2" with a 33" inseam and, IMHO, it is the perfect solution for me. The wind hits almost in a horizontal line across my chest and shoulders and my head is in clean air. No buffeting whatsoever.

I suggest your problem is using the tall screen with the Laminar Lip. This would raise the "bow wave" or air I described above to helmet level giving you the buffeting that you describe.

Here is my Laminar Lip set up. I cruise at any thing between an indicated 50 - 110 with no buffeting. In fact, at around 65 - 90, I sit in a nice cushion of air with no weight on my arms and wrists.

I have tried the Lip with both shields, and no shield too.

IMHO (5'11", 34in inseam, stock '06 or '07 seat), I found the same results as you when mounting the Lip to the Tall shield. Made IMHO a bad shield worse and only worked the lower I mounted it, down to the midway level.

Removed the Tall shield altogether and stuck the Lip directly to the flyscreen, I liked that a lot and rode with it that way for quite a while, smoother than the Stock X shield but a pain to clean around.

Last winter I finally stuck the Lip to the Stock X shield as it was designed. It's a great combo for me with the top positioned about 3" above the top of the Stock shield. That's how I run it now, with the addition of an extra Dual Lock dot on each side for security, I had one let go last spring and I was a little nervous watching the Lip pull on the remaining one in the headwinds we were riding against.

Helmets have a lot to do with buffeting too. My spare KBC VR1X moves around a bit more than my Buell Redline which is smooth as glass behind the Lip most of the time.

The tall shield by itself is terrible. The LL helped a lot but I agree, the "bubble" is being affected as the speed goes over 60. I'm thinking I may trim the tall shield, maybe 1/2 way between tall and stock and retest. Them maybe 1/2 again until I find something that works better.

What was that....You cut it twice and it's still to short? YIKES!

I cut 2" of the tall windshield. I will be out of town for a week but when I get back I'll give you guys a ride report. Thanks for all of your advice and comments.
