Which is the best for cold weather riding. I have a set of heated grips and they are starting to malfunction. Looking for a better option. | ||

Wow, popular topic this time of year. There have been some extensive discussions about this lately (I'm in the market too, for heated gloves and vest to add to my heated grips - anything under 40 degrees and I find that my fingers get too cold after a couple hours). Where as my heated gloves are definitely warmest, they are also cumbersome and prohibit much in the way of button pushing, blinker selection, et al. Only on long rides do I use them. The heated grips get far more use with average cool to cold rides to work or excursions. The heated jacket liner tho - almost never leave home without it. ~jammer | ||

Grips are probably more convenient, but the Widder gloves I got last winter sure are warm and comfortable. They run off the same thermostat as the vest and the wires must run inside your jacket sleeves. The plugs are a little bulky, and you have to make time to hook it all up. | ||

After my big deer-crash this year, I'm only going to buy heated gloves if they're armored. On the way home, I enjoyed waving at the only other bike I saw all day. Another real man! | ||

Yeah, he was riding some sort of Japanese thing, but I saluted him...two lanes away on the Capital Beltway. I wondered what he was wearing, because it was dang cold out, and squids like him don't usually know what to wear after September. Ha ha... | ||

So, you're in DC now...any time you want, I'm 40 minutes north - come on by, we'll go for a ride, and you can try out my heated stuff (jacket liner and gloves at this point). The jacket liner is nice, again, because I can keep the same outer shell as normal - either my Vanson/Buell leather, or my old tuber-days Buell textile with armor. | ||

I've got no beef with Superstore but their shipping is SLOW if they even have the stock. The First Gear line is actually WarmNSafe, I bought a jacket liner for my wife last winter, works fantastic. Fit and finish is better IMHO than the Tourmaster Synergy vest I bought for me, which works great but there were problems with some of the controllers and mine was one of them. Tourmaster took care of that for me pronto so I'm still happy. Very slick - except this site doesn't have any sizes larger than Medium. The prices on this site are great, even if the stuff seem to be older models. I'll see if I can get Okc99, who just moved to DC, into a ride north. We traded a couple emails. You've got great roads up there. | ||

i have the grips on my 06 uly and they work great,2 settings hot and very hot. with the hand guards and the grips and good armoured gloves i have no problem riding in any temp. | ||

Someone should develop a glove for heated grips that uses some kind of heat conductive fabric that carries heat from the palm area down around the finger tips. (Message edited by rwven on December 10, 2008) | ||

Cyclegear had some grips for a deal so I put some of these on today (on the 'other' bike) and it was easy-peasy. Had to trim a little but otherwise no drama.  They feel about as warm as the Symtec Heat Demons I have on the Uly but it was just a short 20 minute ride @ 30degrees.
