Inquiring minds want to know.
Who wants one? I do, I do. Anyone turning one into a ULY style bike? Somebody here was doing this.

I am thinking of doing it, but to be honest, more I think of it, my UlySSes will be a daily driver, and the CR would be my weekend warrior.

Assuming I actually get one of them! : )

I'm definitely thinking about it...didn't like them in pictures, but then I stood next to one in person. Just the kind of weird, fugly, mean-looking bike I like.

My questions:

- Can a 6'3" guy fit on it comfortably for a nice day of riding?
- Is the performance different enough from the Uly to be worth keeping them both (the Uly is never going away)?
- Any hesitation getting a 2008 over a 2009? Were any serious bugs eliminated?

I started of a thread in the 1125r forum, but no answers yet.

No. You'll have to tweak things a bit. But it will be worth it.

Oh yes. The CR hauls ass. But it won;t do the rough stuff, so keep the Uly.

I believe the CR is an 09 release, so no worries.

High Country H-D/Buell has the 1125CRss (long)
Lightning handlebars
touring seat
drop down pegs
I am 6' 4" and find it a great alternative to doing pushups while you ride.

Note the inch gained with the touring seat, and about as much gained in leg room with the drop down pegs.
The handle bars rise up, and come back to the rider resulting in a much more XB12STT style of riding position.

Here you can compare the two side by each. Note the different handlebar position relative to the bug screen.

The egros on the 1125R are the same as the 1125CR with the clubman’s, despite the more aggressive look of the CR.

Jammin_joules let me test ride their CR with the clubman bars about a month ago...and man that could be addicting! I would like to try out the other one with the higher bars sometime...but I'm with froggy, if I bought one it would not replace the Uly.

Jammin_joules,

A couple of questions: Do you know how the Lightning bars compare to those in the 1125CR accessory catalog? Did your conversion require new lines and cables?

The conversion shown is the set sold in the catalog; bars, cables and lines.

And from elsewhere on the 1125R board, the conversion is not for the faint of heart.

But why wait, we can sell you a CR either way, already modified, or in kit form.

Jammin,
How does the steering lock compare to the 08/09 Uly? I imagine that it just eats rear tires, but that is probably a function of judicious throttle application.

I can't say that I noticed it a problem in the 250 test ride miles I've logged on the CR in various forms of modification. My 2007 Uly was immediately obvious. That is why it now has '08 triple clamps - problem solved.

Regarding rear tires - the CR does have a shorter final drive gear ratio so it should get lower miles per tire than the 1125R.

If the turning ratio is an issue on the CR, we have a solution for that too. I call it the 1125CRXT, Uly triple clamps and forks on an 1125CR.

Of course all this modification just leads to the next weak link, foot pegs that rub the pavement. Look closely, you'll see the feeler is worn down.

Oh this bike has been off road quite a bit, on a road course, on a dirt course, on some fire roads. Problem is, mirrors are not something you focus on when you whick this bad boy up a little, and being so fast, your riding buddies only see tracks; by the time they catch up the dust has already settled.

Hey Dave,

I stopped by the store yesterday and sat on the "1125CRss". Very nice! That felt like a riding position that I could get used to. I will have to stop by on a day other than Sunday and take it out for a ride.

Now you need to figure how to mount some hard luggage, like the 1125R I saw at homecoming (Zack probably knows the bike I'm referring to) and I'll be moving that to the top of my "next bike to add to the stable" list!
