I am thinking about installing handlebars about 1 inch lower than the stock ones that are on my ’08 XB12XT. Any suggestions on where to look/buy? |

Doubt you will find better info than this on the topic. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/133779.html |

I found the Raptor bend to be a pretty good compromise...maybe almost 2" lower, but you can raise it by 1" with blocks from Precision Engineering. You can find the Raptor style bars from several manufacturers, in either a fat bar (1-1/8") or in standard 7/8" bars. The 7/8" bars still have the crossbar, where the 1-18" bars do not. The Raptor bend also has less sweep than the stock bars, which I really like. I am currently using a fairly inexpensive 7/8" steel handlebars with the Raptor bend because I like mounting my GPS to the crossbar and I can use my Kaoko bar ends without any modifications.

I was looking into fat bars recently. Magura make a great fat bar (Magura EX 1-1/8") that's 2' lower than the stock bars we have. Just add a fat bar conversion from PE and you end up about 1" lower. FT_bstrd How did you get rid of some of the slack of the clutch cable? did you have to shorten it, replace it or can you just pull it down from below the triple clamp? |

I pushed it through the triple clamp. It didn't take much and it didn't put too much of it down in front of the engine. I slid maybe two inches if it through the tree. |

I used the bars from the TT, they retain the crossbar and they're lower, but they're also the same "bend" as the stock ones, so my wrists are ok. |

Forgot one BIG thing, don't try to ride in any kind of soft sand, (South Jersey stuff) with those lower bars. You can't get back far enough to keep the front end light going through and down you'll go. Not easy picking up 425lbs on a hot summer day when you're alone in the Pineys!!! |

Sure you can. You just gotta have long arms and a heavy butt. |
