Hi all,

long time lurker, interested in purchasing an 2008 XB12X. The only problem is the seat height. I have a 30" inseam, and it's a bit tall for me (on my toes on flat ground). I feel better on the XB12XT, but would prefer the 12X. From the Buell website, I couldn't find a lower seat for the 2008s. Any of you guys have the same problem? Solutions? (I tried searching, but couldn't find an answer).

The 2006 low seat will fit but it's not a lot lower than the stock 2008. If you're VERY lucky, there may be one in stock or another BadWeber with one may live near you for you to try. You will likely have to have some custom work done on the foam.

I have the 06 stock seat on my XT so my original seat isn't being used. If you think that would work for you perhaps we could make a deal if or when you buy your X. If you want it you may pm me anytime.

XT and 07-up X seats are the same. As Gotj said, the 06 "low" seat may be a smidgen lower but not much. Quite a few of us have ~30" inseams and ride X's. For me, it's not a problem except when riding 2-up; I have to REALLY watch my footing then.

Pook I have a 30 inch inseam too and bought an 07 Uly last year, I took the low seat to a guy in Largo, Maryland and he shaved some of the seat for me and put different foam on the plastic. It made about another 1/2 inch difference. I still tippy toe on my Uly and after a while you get used to it. The bike is very stable at low speeds so the handling is easy at stops. Just have to watch where you park: ) I am 5'7" tall K

Pook I know the Harley Store at Baltimore on Pulaski Highway has a black low seat for $50.00 it has a minor defect to it but the seat is otherwise in excellent shape. K

Many people confuse the low seat and the 07+ seat. Please see this thread:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?142838/386432

There are 3 OEM seats, the 06, the 07+, and the Low seat.

Froggy, I just looked at the thread on seats and it looks like I have the Style seat for my 2007, the shop said it was the low seat. So do they put the low seat on and sell it with a stock Uly new or do you have to buy the low seat extra? K

They can sell it to you at the time of purchase, that is what I did when I bought my 06. At this point you’re better off buying it in the classifieds here, someone is always selling one. A new 07 seat goes for about $110 and a new low seat is about $220.

Couldn't you get an XB12X front beak and put it on an XB12XT and be done with it?

The 07 seat is the one that should come with your bike, its not lucking out. But your said you had the seat reworked, so its lower than the lowseat now for sure : )

Thanks for all the feedback. Glad there are so many enthusiasts out there. I'm wanting to stick with the X over the XT for the suspension.

You wouldn't be disappointed in the XT suspension. I'm very impressed with mine. Unless you plan to go off road a lot you probably don't need the extra travel. XT suspension is superb and it soaks up bumps like a sponge does water. If you plan to do entirely street and need or intend to buy the HP bags your best bet IMO is the XT. YMMV

I like to do a decent amount of off-road. Not planning anything crazy like trips to Alaska or Paraguay but like to do both long road-trips and long camping trips. Any XT'rs who do multi-day cross-country trips out there? My only frame of reference is from KTM dirtbikes out in the desert, but they are too uni-sport for me.

This is my '06 Low I would sell, virtually new, flawless, rode it for less than 30 miles:

2006 Low Seat

Too low for me with my 34" inseam. PM me if interested!

Unless your hopping logs or getting air, I don't think the added travel in suspension of the XB12X will gain you anything over the XB12XT in off road situations. The limiting factors of weight, tire size, and high first gear are the same for both bikes. That having been said, I don't think you'll experience any buyers remorse with either model. I'm sure CitiXslicker can chime in on XB models and their off road capabilities. He'll tell you there are none.
