I am looking at changing my handlebars over the winter, to get a bar with less pull-back (sweep) than the stock ones. I found the Pro Taper SE ATV HI which should do the trick, but I will need 1" risers to get the height I want, and it will end up being 3/4" higher than stock with the 1" riser.

Q: Will I need to re-route cables for a 3/4" increase in height and will I need to drill the new handlebars for the controls?....Thanks

The previous owner of my Uly bought a second top clamp and turned it upside down and put it under the bars with longer stainless cap screws. Has the stock cables no issues.

Treadmarks I am pretty sure is using the 2" Rox Risers with slight rerouting and some spacers on his front cowl with the stock cables.

I actually have my handlebars off my bike right now and there are 2 dowel holes for the switch blocks. You could drill holes or knock the pins off the controls themselves (I assume).

I file the pins off on all of my bikes. This way they can rotate in a get-off and not break.

Think twice before you file the pins off- I have an old Honda someone did this too and the throttle control will readily slip around on the handlebar. I can understand why some people would take the pins off, but I'd rather have them.

Thats correct.

2" rox risers with just a cable reroute. The spacers I did later to free up some space with the 08 trees.

Thanks for the input - I ordered the Pro Taper SE ATV Mid handlebar. It'll end up at 0.4" higher than stock, with the 1" PE riser, with 3" of sweep as opposed to the stock bar's 5".

I have the Precision Engineering 1" risers with the Charmichael Bend ProTaper bars. I didn't need to get longer throttle, brake, or clutch cables. Everything was just fine.

I did file down the pins a bit. Not off, but down. I wrapped the bar in duct tape just below where the switch gear mounts up without issue.

You can drill holes in the new bars, but I was concerned about stress fractures in the aluminum. Everything I read stated that drilling in aluminum wasn't recommended.

Here's my install:
