Well, riding the Uly in the cold, back to back with my S2, makes me wonder....anyone ever thought about making S2T-style leg lowers for a Uly? My (half metal, now) legs are COLD on the Uly, but it's got the best seat-to-peg height...

I have absolutely NO experience laying up fiberglass, or I'd give it a shot. Any 'glassers out there want to give it a try? Here's a shot of my S2 with the lowers on it, if anyone's curious. I'd be happy to get detail shots of the attachment points/methods, although they'd be COMPLETELY different on an XB...

Joe- that's an interesting idea. Maybe you could just adapt a lower fairing intended for an XB-R?

My legs are okay, but I was thinking about a seat warmer yesterday!

I don't think an XB-R designated part would work...the frames are shaped differently, especially the 'cutout' for the knees and frame pucks.

Might have to go to the craft store and get some cardboard...see if it can even be done.

get the power works stunt cage and mount a set of 'elephant ears' over the framework like the Harley guys do on their baggers.

I didn't think they had a cage for the long XBs...

Wait a minute- didn't the XBRR use Uly frame rails to increase the fuel capacity? If that's true, a lower fairing from the XBRR should work (IF you could afford it).

You'd need the upper fairing to go with the lower or else it wouldn't look so good. It probably wouldn't work so good either.

I don't want to have a fairing... my goal is more along the lines of wind protection - for *me*. The S2T fairings (red bike in the pic above, I can get closeups soon) are "hollow", allowing you to put your legs in/behind them, protecting them from cold, rain, etc. They're more of a vertical 'spoiler'...

Joe
The 12P has a different engine bracket with tabs on the right side for the siren that might make a good spot to anchor the spoiler. Left side may be trickier but the attachment points for the LSS combined with the oil cooler might offer an option....

I had an idea about vacuum forming some hard plastic over a plastic or wooden form and attaching it to the frame like you would attach the frame pucks. If you already have frame pucks as do most XB's nowadays...well then I have no idea.

Frame pucks are soft. I'd be willing to bet they'd take a short screw with no problem, just use the puck as the anchor point.

I've got garage cleaning to do today anyway...I'll muck around with the Uly while I'm out there and see what I come up with.

Good call on the XP piece. I was thinking the right side would be the easier side to attach, in stock form, since there's that frame spar down low...I gotta start poking, instead of just speculating!
