I have one on my X also. Notable decrease in wind pressure on my chest and forearms which is a real improvement on long distance rides. Still some turbulence around helmet but overall I like it a lot. I think the taller screen on the XT with the laminar lip might eliminate the turbulence completely, depending on your height. |

Anyone have a photo or link to what is being discussed? Thanks. |

http://www.laminarlip.com/xbxu.php Here's the link. I had one on my Triumph and it worked well. They say it works for the XT as well, I'm not sure how it would mount though. I guess you would just mount it below the flip at the top of the tall screen. The factory tall screen is horrible for me (6'3) as it put my head right in the turbulence. The first thing I did on my XT was put a short screen on it. It would be nice to have some wind protection for the winter. |

I tried it on both stock X and tall, works better for me on the stocker. I tried it in various positions on the tall shield, but it didn't seem to have much effect. I ended up sticking it directly onto the flyscreen for awhile, actually works pretty well there better than the stock X shield. Now I run it on the stock shield and don't monkey with it anymore. YMMV. |

Thanks Jlpskydive. Just checked the price - $84 plus shipping. A tall windscreen is $100 from HD-Buell. Looks like something I would pursue, but not at that cost. Anything similar out there, but less expensive? |

I have a tall screen collecting dust that I would let go pretty cheap if your interested. If you're over 6 foot you will probably run into the same problem I had with it though. |

It has four adhesive-backed "uber velcro" dots that stick it to the stock shield. It takes a putty knife or dull knife blade to get the "uber velcro" dots apart. The kit also comes with a small rubber bumper you install near the top of the flyscreen which prevents the stock windshield from rubbing against the flyscreen from the increased force caused by the laminar lip. It's a good mounting system. |

I have one fitted to the standard, (low) screen on my XB12X. All I can say is it's worth it's weight in gold. The most practical mod I've made to my Uly!!! |

I put one on my 07 X w/stock w/s and like it. It doesn't remove all the wind but reduces it by about 70% which is perfect, the ride is still visceral with a bit of wind. Makes longer rides less tiring though there is some turbulence by the helmet sometimes, you can play around [move mounting points up and down] to try to mitigate that. In a perverted way I really like the look on the bike too. Overall 8/10, +++ it's made in the US and the customer service was excellent to boot. |

this aero stuff is like black art unless you have a wind tunnel placement of the lip is so sensitive a mater of 1" makes a significant change,I'm 6' with a 06 low seat it works great for me but the Girl In Back says no too much buffeting, put on the california scientific (tall) and i get buffeting and G.I.B. says its all good, now throw on the 06 tall seat the california scientific is better for me and still good for G.I.B.,but the lip causes buffeting on me but a little better for G.I.B. ps. G.I.B. is 5'9" for your scientific research |

Doug- You're definitely right about how sensitive this stuff is. But don't forget a person's height doesn't tell the whole story. Some of us are long-legged and some of us aren't. My brother-in-law is probably an inch taller than me, but if we sit side-by-side, I can see over his head! He's all legs and I'm all body. No wonder so many companies make aftermarket windshields and accessories. |
