I have an xt but would like the windshield from the x. Are they interchangeable? Anyone want to do a straight swap? | ||

You don't want to swap. The X shield is cheap enough new anyway, less than $50.00. If you want to use the XT mounting hardware you will have to enlarge the bottom holes a little bit. I used a step bit on mine, a Dremel tool would work too. Keep the tall for cooler weather and long highway trips. | ||

Try riding without any shield on the bike. Clean air and no buffeting. | ||

After the windscreen fell off my XT and quickly discovered that the local dealerships did not have the recall kits to fix the problem, I ordered the X wind shield and the original mounting hardware for the X. The total cost including shipping from HD Appleton was less than $70. I prefer the looks of the lower X wind shield and have not noticed any difference in buffeting...then again, I'm only 5' 8" | ||

Sounds good, thanks for the input, I will hang on to the tall one. I just traded in my 03 lightning for the xt and have noticed much more wind noise with the windshield. I will start by taking it off and then maybe buy the x. Thanks guys |
