have a set of caribou cases for the sides, and a H&B Sport Trunk for the top case. I have more storage than a Harley-Davidson FLHTCU when fully loaded. I will try and get a pic to load. |

Carbonsteel, is your broken lock and latch the one that locks the case to the mount? The lid latches up top are easily ordered for replacement from BMC and carry a part number. In Froggy's link to the parts list the lower latch doesn't carry a part number. If your broken one is the lower, then maybe the Hardly-interested Davidson parts guys don't know how to get the part, if available. Have you tried to remove the lock from your latch? I looked at mine and maybe it can be done, maybe a small clip or ring retainer in there. Or is that what's broken on yours? |

Court, great pix of your Uly with the Outdoorsmans. Turn signals look good and integrated, lots of sidecase mounts relocate the signals to goofy places which look like crap when the bags are off. If the mounts are available separately from Buell I might want to go that route, if nothing else but to move my Journeys back a bit and give the wife a little more foot room. |

Carbonsteel - Court is serious. I have seen the parts listing, but I can't recall where it was. Maybe on H-Dnet, its been a while (I should print that out when I find it...). But, I do recall part numbers for the latches...*because* they note "lock assembly not included <with> as it is easily transferred from old latch to new latch". Not the exact wording, but the concept is true. |

I wonder if these racks are the proper ones for the HB aluminum cases. I really don't care for these new cases they seem to small, this coming from a guy who at one time would rather load giant duffles on his bike then have hard bags. The stock bags have spoiled me. The HB aluminum's call me. |

>>>>"Have you tried to remove the lock from your latch? I looked at mine and maybe it can be done, maybe a small clip or ring retainer in there. Or is that what's broken on yours?" It's the latch that holds the bag on the bike and the lock and latch are both broke. The problem is the the key# is a buell exclusive and cannot be ordered from Hepco and Buell refused to sell it individually. |

ahh...sorry, must have misread your post. I didn't realize your lock was also busted, hence my post about transferring it into the new latch. |

The lock barrel assembly can be ordered from Buell. About $8 each. The hangup I've found is getting them keyed alike. This summer my dealer was unable to secure either locks keyed alike and it kind of sucks hauling 4 different keys for 3 Buell bags. NUTS |

If it's only $8 each...why not buy three and change them all ? you'll have two spare "emergency" ones. |

Bertotti, I am definately going to get the H&B "aluminum exclusive" bags in 40 litre for the sides and 45 litre for the top. I have spoke with the H&B dealers(s) and they told me that the mounts for the Uly must come from Buell as Buell and H&B have an agreement. I have already ordered my mounts from Buell and will soon be ordering my bags from my local H&B dealer. Aparently all of the H&B bags have a universal mount system so any H&B bag will mount on any H&B mount. |

Skinstains be careful I understand there is a kit to make the Buell mounts work with the HB aluminum cases. Also they mount on the opposite side with the Buell racks as I understand it. I found the kit and some of this info on the HB site and one of the people over at ADV Rider has done the swap and posted a few pics and answered a few question I had. Try a search for the HB aluminum bags here and over there. Get some good pics when you do the swap. I am years away from the change to them myself. |

Aparently all of the H&B bags have a universal mount system so any H&B bag will mount on any H&B mount. Yes, be careful. H/B's latch to the mounts at the rear, the Buell H/B Journey at the front. This isn't a big deal since the Journey is universal right/left, so a H/B left side case will fit the right side of the Buell mount, vice versa on the other side. However on the Uly the Journey is pushed very forward to clear the turn signals, and (on several X/XT's I've checked) the front of the case is close enough to the passenger peg to cause interference. A case without the Journey's curvature at the front MIGHT render the rear pegs nearly useless. My wife has no movement available on the pegs with the cases on as it is, other than her heels on them and then her toes bang into me. Right/left symmetrical H/B's should work within the length dimensions of the Journey. Cases like the Outdoorsman/Junior might be a problem, and would look weird in reverse IMHO, mounted to the original Buell mounts. After scrutinizing Court's pix above I'm thinking I like the Buell Outdoorsman setup and the relocated turn signals. The Outdoorsman is a bit small for my needs though, I'm leaning toward the larger Junior available from H/B. IF I can get the Buell mounts separately from the cases. |

If I could ever get Court to show up at the Ear Inn, I could try mounting my Journey's on his brackets. My buddy, who is virtually always at the Ear with me, has the aluminum H&B cases on his GS1150, so we can try mounting those to Court's brackets as well. Tipsy P.S. - Just givin' ya a hard time Court. Don't go out of your way to make it this Tuesday as I'm in Guangzhou right now and won't be back in NYC till Thursday. |

Mr. Carbonsteel: Call the stadium operator . . . your solution has arrived. It's not the easiest and cleanest but it'll work great. Sorry for taking 7 hours to solve an impossible problem. The time change threw us off and it was tough to reach some of the folks on Sunday. Drop me a note with your name, VIN and a number I can reach you at. Court |

If space and durability is what you are after I second the Caribou Cases. Use those on the sides and the Buell on the top if you can get it by itself. |

...several Badwebbers have laid their bikes down on the Journey bags, and the bags have not only held up well, but saved the bike from significant damage. Then there was the tried & true, available in several sizes, weekender shown here. Oh, I did scratch my "Rosies Brewpub, highest brewery in America, 10,215 feet, Leadville, CO" sticker. And, yes, I know, I have a headlight out.

I recently had to replace one of the latches that holds the bag to the rack and now have an odd key. I also have an extra latch with yet another odd key due to inadvertently ordering twice. I would love to have my matching key system back again. |

Hey Xbimmer, It is Courts bike that made me cancel my order of the Outdoorsman bags. I saw his bike at my local dealer and noticed that the bags looked quite small. I asked if maybe they were a different model year or size but was told that there is only one size. That is when I realized that I needed to look elsewhere. Now Ihave to check out the Caribou cases from Pelican that Cityxslicker mentioned. |
