About a month ago on a trip to Texarkana (trying to relive the Smoky and the Bandit destination...horrible decision! This place is like Beirut!) I was on a toll road and saw my engine light come on. Anyway, I was cruising at 90mph thinking I could at least get 30-32 miles to the next exit. WRONG

I was stopped on the side of the road after 25 miles! Apparently at 90 mph, the Uly gets only 30 mpg. Believe me, I checked the odometer. Anyone else have supporting evidence? This was completely flat Oklahoma roadway.

What year is your Uly? I have an '06 and have done some prolonged superslab time at 80+ and have never gone below 40mpg. I think 42 was my worst.

Reserve will only get you 30 miles MAX.

I average 45mpg beating the ever living crap out of my Uly in the city, worst mileage I ever got was on the track, and that was wide open all day at 38mpg.

On my '06 the worst I have seen is 41. That was on a speed run on some NE Tennessee secondary twisties. On the slab at 80 to 100 mph speed cruising for a full tank it did 46.5 mpg.

I had to maintain 120mph to get only 35mpg. If the check engine light came on, there is no way in hell I would ride that hard!

If your engine light came on, then the bike died on the side of the road 25 miles later, I would check more than the fuel level.

You will not get more than 30 miles on the reserve. I've tried. I coasted the last 100 ft.

There is less than a gallon on reserve.

By engine light, I believe OKc99 means fuel light !
You guys with '06s are lucky -- my '07 routinely gets high 30s during commuting of speeds 60-80 mph.

FL,

Did you do the reflash? I thought that fixed the fueling issues?

Fatty,
If I understand correctly, the reflash is for the '08s ?

I need to spend some time with someone who really understand the ECM tuning. I was up to 42 mpg commuting, but it was running very lean, ie. noticeably hotter than it used to be. The mechanic richened thing up 6%, which improved the heat condition, but killed the mileage. As their LAST Buell customer (just HD now), he dropped things back to stock, but today's tank got me 38 mpg.
I've gotten a tank best of 48 mpg in the mountains of NC. I wish that was my usual.

(Always ridden with the Buell side bags)

Fl, your bike should be doing much better than that! Perhaps you got a buggered sensor so its not fueling you right and killing your mileage?

You're right FL. I was thinking about the 08's. I have the race ECM and regularly get 45-50 MPG.

I don't know what to tell you.

Brand new O2 sensor just put in at the above mentioned service.

Any other sensors I should look at ?

'06 Uly with +50k, worst I recall is 34 mpg a couple of times two up, three full cases, 90-100+. Same load ridden more sanely especially at altitude above 4k feet and I get high 50's.

I actually nudged 62 once riding superslab at 70-75, got 58-60 several other tanks that trip.

Mine's all over the map. Depends on how often I exercise the interactive exhaust.

Headed into Death Valley, I was riding on the most desolate road I'd ever been on. It was the only place I've ever felt comfortable cruising at over 100.

Well as I'm cruising down this road at 110, it dawns on me "I bet this thing is sucking down gas, and there is no place out here to buy any." I slowed way down, and managed not to run out of fuel in Death Valley. That would have sucked.

I think the spec say that there will be .8 of a gallon when the "Low Fuel" check light comes on. I would imagine that there is a little variance in that thou I don't know what the manufacturing tolerance is for the sensor.

Traveling at 100 miles per hour, where your drag is 4 times what it is at 50 miles per hour(d = vē), and going up hill after the light comes on. You might not get very far.

when Joules was stock I was getting 36-38 miles on reserve. Of course that yellow gas light means I go into conservative riding mode.
