New, Oct '08, report on ABS effectiveness on motorcycles...interesting read. I like the part "For a number of experienced enthusiasts out there, they're able to stop with a non-ABS motorcycle quicker than they are with an ABS-equipped motorcycle," van Hooydonk said. "It's all very situational."

As I have said before, I would love an ABS system that can be disengaged with a simple button on the dashboard. Keep it on for when I get a SUV running a red light in pouring rain, and leave it off for track days.

ABS is supposed to be on the 2010 CBR1000R.

I don't think it's cancelable.

Unless you get wheel slip, you wouldn't even notice it.

2009 CBR1000RR -- 2 models, one with ABS, one without.

Same with the 600RR.

At least they make it a
CHOICE.

You jest, however some Illinois congresswoman actually proposed a bill to put seat belts on motorcycles. Fortunately the Illinois ABATE was there to explain things to her.

NO abs for me....

I dont like it on my cars and wont have it on a bike.

Even if you cannot flip a switch to turn it off, you can still pull the fuse.

Well, I know ABS probably saved my a$$ on my previous bike (2006 Yamaha FJR1300). Car cut in front of me, I had nowhere to go, only thing to do was hold on tight and get ready for the dump. Didn't happen. Stopped within 1 foot of the car, which had gotten the deer-in-the-headlight look when they finally saw me. On other bikes I probably would have slid into the car. I'm not a daredevil but it was "nice" to know my ABS worked on my Yamaha. No matter what, everyone should have it - whether for your car or motorcycle, IMO.

Like a duc dealer told me.

"The best thing about the Ducati ABS,,,, you can turn it off."

if you are an expert rider on a race track, you can easily out-brake abs...

mortals on the highway are better off with abs...my new roadking has it and i had three beemers with it..

many motor cops will tell you that abs will save your ashe on the street..harley spent a lot of money developing abs for police bikes, to keep from losing out to beemer..

here on the fhp, we can have a choice of a harley or a beemer.
