Last evening I was installing the Polly handle bar heaters. I decided this time to use a relay. I don't think I hooked it up right because the Polly's don't heat!
Here is how I wired the relay.
87 -fused line direct to battery
85- ground (Black) wire from heaters to ground on bike
30- to heater switch
86- to plug outlet hot wire.
This sound right?

Hi,

No it isn't right. This should work:

87 - to heater switch
85 - ground to ground on bike
30 - fused line direct to battery
86 - to plug outlet hot wire.

Here is a diagram that Mike recently posted for fog lights, seeing is better. Look around 2/3 of the way down.

Even if you get it right, you will have to ride for a least five minutes to warm them up. It may not happen for longer at idle.

It is a fair trade off as it takes ten minutes for them to cool off.

Thanks for the info. Funny I have found a couple other diagrams that show the hookup differently. It will only work one way I would think.

Ok all hooked up and cooking. I got the snowmobile heaters, way hot so I added a 10w resistor which seems to do the trick. Thanks for the help.

Hey guys and gals,
I understand the wiring that is required, I am wanting to run aux lighting also. I can run wires and follow diagrams but what do I need to and check to make sure I don't overload my system. Everything else is stock other than the dual lights on bright mod. Thanks
