My XT is in the shop for a bad wiring harness and it doesn't look like it's going to be out in time for my annual Pennsylvania Fall Colors group ride this weekend. So, out in my garage I have an '03 HD Road King Classic that a co-worker lent me for the weekend. It may not be as fun as the Uly, but I'll be stylin'!

Dude, if you need a Uly, let me know. It's an orange X, though, hope that doesn't offend... That, and I've still got one side case disassembled for color-match painting. Are the service guys taking care of you, though? If you haven't ridden one before, you'll be impressed by the FLH. Set your air shocks for your weight/riding style (tire valve fitting above the left saddlebag, on the fender rail - I always ran mine at max PSI) - use a hand pump, it's a low-capacity system, don't blow a seal by using a compressor. They transition very well and low to medium speed cornering is great. High speed cornering is only limited by the low floorboards - mine were constantly being replaced because I used to grind them off! (They'll hinge up before you make hard contact and lift the rear wheel off the ground - ask me how I know) And yes, an FLH will run a respectable time on a Battletrax course...if you don't mind a few sparks |

Joe, I don't even know if they've looked at it yet. Apparently the Buell tech is out with an injury of some kind and another tech was supposed to come in but they haven't seen him yet. I'm heading out for my weekend about 3:00 this afternoon, I'll deal with it next week. Thanks for the Uly offer. I'm not riding the Road King this weekend though, the same friend has 5 Harleys and I'm riding his 95 ElectraGlide. Edlebrock heads, and pistons,HP cams, big Mikuni, and Screamin' Eagle pipes. I already have added air in the shocks and forks. It is a sweet ride in a leisurely thumpin' crusin' sort of way. My wife is in love with the thing. Ron He has it for sale for $9000.00, I am sorely tempted... (Message edited by rwven on October 17, 2008) |

Yeah, the "other" Joe (Buell tech) decided to follow in my footsteps and got off his 12S about 2 weeks ago, to the tune of a few cracked ribs and screwy ankle. He's doing much better than I was, but staying off that ankle till the docs clear him for work again. That '95 will be fun, too. I had a 96 with ported/polished heads, S/E forged pistons, V-thunder cam, singlefire ignition...it would move for a fat bagger Sounds like a decent price, if it's built the right way and cared for properly...but I'm not trying to help you any, lol. |
