my 08 stock uly seat is not comfortable for me, im thinking about buying the buell low gel seat, does anyone have any input on how comfortable it is? will it sit me any lower to the ground than my 08 seat. i dont want to go with the 06 seat because im only five nine tall and its already hard for me to touch the ground. i hate the way the 08 seat pushes me forward.i just want to sit strait up in my seat and ride without being pushed in any wierd angles, has anyone found a good alternative?

Yes it is a tad lower than your current seat. Every ass is different, and there is only one way to find out if you like it. Check the classifieds here, someone might have one for sale.

Thims1982-
I am about the same height and I had the same issues with the 07+ seat. I picked up an 06 seat just to try it out and it wasnt too bad, but I just picked up a Low seat last week and put 500 miles on it already and it is by far the best Uly seat I have used (now all 3 from Buell).

I now dont slid forward in the saddle and it is a more relaxed riding position. It does seem to be a bit firmer than the 07+ seat though.

For me it was well worth all the money and then some that I paid for it!

I put the '06 Low seat on my '08 XT and It feels 100% better to me. But, like Froggy said, everyone's ass is different.

Crusty: Part number please? The '08 seat and my ass don't get along as well as I'd like.

My style is to ride forward and, in my natural position, I find I'm "out of the bucket" by about 8". I'm curious to try the seat you are using.

Shoot me the number and I'll give one a try.

Thinking about heading your direction today . . . .gorgeous weather and I've made about 9 mods to the Uly I need to shake out.

I'm 5'8", the 07 seat is ok but the 06 takes a lot of getting used to because it really raises you up. Never tried the low seat. What I have noticed is the 07 seat does break in over time. I force myself to ride back on it to break it in faster because it is wider it takes longer to break in then the front narrower portion. After it breaks in in the narrower portion I can actually get my legs closer to the ground. Now that the back is breaking in I do not have to slide as far forward when I stop. How long have you ridden on the 08 stock seat?

I have a brand new 06 stock seat if anyone is interested. I'm sure you could take it off my hands for a reasonable pittance.

I have the low seat on my 2008 XT. It doesn't necessarily lower you to the ground but you do sit lower in the seat. More "in" the bike and not "on top" of the bike. My seat covering is really slippery. I like the stock seat covering better. Looking into have it replaced (low seat) with a similar covering as on the stock seat.

It is much firmer than the stock seat, just FYI.

Rather than change seats, may I suggest taking up riding a bicycle. Preferably a hard tail road bike with a racing saddle. After a couple of weeks of training any seat with padding will feel great!
Plus you will lose weight (if needed) and strengthen your leg and neck muscles. Arms must be trained separately.

Don't ask me how I know...

Anybody want to trade my orange and black '06 tall seat for an '07 or '08 seat?

Roads are too smooth man. I ride a hardtail mountain bike with Sette Lynx saddle quite a bit though. But yeah your right, after a five hour ride on that this seat feels great but the way-too-soft seat on my boulevard really annoyed me.

Late to the party but I have had all three OEM seats on my '06. I prefer the 06 Low around town and for aggressive riding. The slicker fabric makes it easier for me to slide off the seat in turns. I am too short for the 06 Standard seat. The reach to the grown is a challenge and the longitudinal seams on the seat were uncomfortable over time on the inter-thighs due to my short legs. If I had the legs I believe the 06 Standard is the most comfortable seat. The 07 and later standard seat is comfortable on long trips and for two up riding. The pillion area is better padded and the ability to push back to a better padded area of the seat helps me and my tail bone. It likes to get out of sorts and then I have to be twisted like a pretzel to get it back in place if I ride the 06 low for a long trip. Again more a personal issue than a problem with the seat. As for reaching the ground, the 07 and later seat is the best.
