Hey Big, Bad & Dirty Buellers, be on the lookout for Lloyd Shuler on my/now his black '08 Uly X with 5K miles. He headed off this morning from Charleston, SC for Edmonton, Alberta via Jacksonville, FL and Shreveport LA. If you happen to cross paths with him on his journey, be sure to say hi. He's a great guy. If you see him on the side of the road,(god forbid) check on him. Although he has the service manual, spare wheel bearings and a spare drive belt, he left his cell phone in his summer riding jacket back home, and he's transitioning from 5 years on a Harley Electra and Dyna. No worries!

I hope he also has a spare ECM and spark plugs.

Just curious, why do you say he should have a spare ECM?

I haven't heard of any issues with them (unless you drill through them).

Jim, you got another bike lined up yet? They still have a red XB12XT sitting at Lowcountry last time I was there....

Hugh, I'm still looking. A red XT at Low Country, you say? Hmmm. Red is my favorite color, except on wheel bearing seals!
Actually, I went down there yesterday and they were closed. Must be their new "winter" hours. Supposed to be 89 tomorrow.

Mine went down and left me stranded on the freeway. No drilling necessary.

Well, Lloyd made it the 4000 miles to Edmonton, Alberta on the Uly. Had a get- off somewhere in Oklahoma when a trucker cut him off. A short visit to the nearest Harley shop and he was good to go, but the left bag will never look the same. 9000 miles on the original Scorpions. He asked about increasing the fuel range. I guess out West in some places you have to re-fuel before the yellow light comes on. I told him about how helpful you guys have been, so I'm sure he'll be introducing himself, soon.

Glad the Uly held up for him. 9000 miles on a rear Sync? That looks to be about 2500 miles more than I'm gonna get.

You making any progress on finding a bike? Someone pointed out to me that there's a 1983 Honda VT500FT Ascot on Craig's list in Charleston for $850 if you want something to play on until you can find something more serious. VT's are nifty bikes.

Yeah, I heard about that Ascot. The seller is a great guy, lives not too far from here.

Actually, I'm headed to Charlotte this weekend to look at a couple Wee Stroms. Also, since I helped sell the '07 LC4 Adventure at Champion BMW/KTM, the sales manager has offered me a killer deal on a '09 F650GS twin. I believe the
Suzuki will be a better highway bike on next summer's Iron Butt 20-day ride to Alaska and back.

If that compliment is directed at me, thanks, but it's actually not my Ascot. Although I waiver occasionally, I'm planning on keeping mine.

Dave - Lloyd just got the info on BadWeb last night when he called to let me know he made it ok. He said he doesn't do too much on computers, but indicated he would check the forum out. I told him to introduce himself if he registers.

Hugh - Are you trying to tell us you don't resemble that remark?
