I'm considering selling the Uly. Work hasn't been going that well, and so I am looking at lightening the load a bit.

So I'm going to post one of those annoying "what do you think I should ask" threads.

The extras include:

Two sets of Uly wheels
One set of R/S wheels
Race Kit
HDM Composite Sliders
Protaper Fat Bars
Precision Engineering Bar Clamps

It's an 06 with 22,000 miles.

Dang, FB. I'm truly shocked- now I AM worried about the economy. I hope things turn around for you.

Complete SWAG on my part- $7.5k for the bike plus $1k for the extras?

BTW- don't you have the factory side bags and heated grips too? Oh yea, and the Death Ray is certainly worth mentioning.

Fatty,

A. Turn off the F*CKIN' TV
B. Take a deep breath
C. Keep it and enjoy it, regardless of anything else
D. You not having it won't change anything - except you'll wish you had never gotten rid of it.

Just a friendly thought.

John

Ft_bstrd I don't know you outside of this forum but it is clear to me that you have a passion for your Uly. I suggest that you really think this over for a while before you do anything that you will regret.

Unfortunately, being in the financial services industry, most of us have spent the better part of this year getting kicked squarely in the dick.

I don't really want to sell it, but I am preparing for the worst. My job is fantastic when things are blowing and going. It sucks ass when it's bad.

It's one of the really great and horrific things about being 100% commission paid. If'n ya ain't killin', ya ain't eatin'.

If I do sell it, it may only be for a few months. I just don't know for sure when things are going to turn around.

I'm a stone cold ninja at what I do, but the demand for what I do drops off when the market gets soft.

Sucks.

FB, I know how you feel. My wife and I figured last weekend in Suches might have to be our last adventure with the Uly. My business is down over 50 percent from last year. I havent pulled the trigger yet but either the Uly or the car has to go. On the bright side we can always get the latest model when things pic up down the road.

fat, sorry to hear you even think of such a ludicrous thing, but i know how you feel though. finally went back to work after being out for 3 months. now i just have to get caught back up on my bills. luckily though, i didn't have to consider selling none of the bikes. the bright side is upgrading though so do what you have to do for the family.

Well now, that sucks - you are a big (no pun) part of all things Uly...

'course you could charge for "guard rail services"....just sayin.

oh yeah to your question - somewhere around 7k. 7,500 if your are lucky all things considered (economy, time of year, yada yada)

These times are tough. I hate to hear it Fats. I hope things turn around for you soon. They say that the market has over sold, so maybe we are due for a quick rebound. One can only hope. Hang in there, I am pulling for you.

FB- Without knowing you or frankly/obviously anything about you- It has been an honor to read your thoughts and ideas over the year + i have been a lurking and been a member..... I had always hoped to met the infamous Ft_Bstrd... especially being just down 40 a couple of hours... maybe ... on your 06 or 09 XB12X... we all are certainly hoping for a quick turn around....

Mr. Uly...

Cheers-pete

I'd start with parting out the extras. A set of wheels are going for $400 to $500. If you have the stock ECM and pipe somebody has to have a dented up pipe like mine needing replacement, Hell Odie will buy the old pipe. Bags with racks should get easy $500. hell sign it and you could ask $5 more!!! Part everything then the bike solo. You still should get 7,500 for all the non removable parts you have installed.

BTW I'm with the sell now to get a new and improved later thinking. It's not what you ride it's that you ride.

I'll second that you sell the extras separately. It's a bit more hassle but you'll make out better in the end. When I sold my PC800 a few months ago I put it on E-Bayhoping to get about $4300 for it with all the extras included. The highest bid I got was $3475. I stripped the trunk, intercom, Rick Mayer seat, highway pegs and tank bag off. I got about $1000 for the extras, excluding the intercom system which I installed in my Uly's tankbag. plus I sold the bike for $3435. So I ended up with $4435.

No!!!!!!!

I hope you don't have to sell it Jeremy.

If you do my only advice would be that you will probably make more money selling the extra's off individually.

I checked ebay to see what Ulys were going for:

It doesn't look like a real good time to sell a bike. : ( Another argument for selling off the extras separately.

Dayuum Fatty.

Sorry to here about the cutbacks.

Sell all your goodies first. Use that money to live on noodles and chicken broth until things get better.

The uly is the perfect bike for where you live and ride. It would be a shame to lose it now, just to buy another later and then assume the depreciation twice.

Not exactly a sellers market right now.

Financial Services? Me too.

My bike is even more valuable now as a "release". If it's paid off, leave it be. Ridding yourself of payments might be prudent, however.

Keep swinging, and have faith in yourself and your adaptability. "stone cold ninjas" find a way to survive...

Sorry about the finances. If you must sell I agree with the others sell the extras first. I did that with my concours and also goldwing. Also as others have said this is an opportunity for you to get the newest and greatest when the market turns around.

Keep the bike. We sold our trailer first. Then one of the cars will go. The Bike is too valuable for commute and entertainment. In fact I am thinking of upgrading it to something else.

It would've detracted from my enjoyment of helping you.

It's only fun to help others when there is no expectation of reciprocation.
