Ok maybe I am nuts. I want to get some kind of switch box to mount on my handle bars to allow me to control accessories. A few of my accessories have no power switch, or are still consuming power while “off”. I would want some kind of thing with several switches, waterproof and preferable with blue LED lights. Here is a quick mock up I made in Photoshop. Anyone that can help steer me in the right direction? I am not even sure where to get it or what it is even called, I found the picture on some police equipment site.

Froggy: That's the box I have in the car. I got it from Gall's. Has four lower amperage and two higher amperage switches. Court (Message edited by court on September 29, 2008) |

ROTATING LIGHTS / LIGHTBAR / TAKEDOWN / FOG LIGHTS / LEFT ALLEY / RIGHT ALLEY Awesome, you need to keep those labels if you do make one. |

Froggy, me too. Here are some switches that I found. They are waterproof IP66/IP68 (no worries in the rain) and rated at 20Amps, which means you can skip the relay, if you chose to. Spendy, though at $20: http://www.consumersmarine.com/modperl/product/det ails.cgi?i=870337&pdesc=Weather_Resistant_On/Off_R ocker_Switch&str=switch&merchID=3005&r=view Weather-Resistant On/Off Rocker Switch Black plastic rocker and housing with neoprene mounting gasket/panel seal provided. Certified to IP66 and IP68 for complete protection against dust and prolonged spray and submersion under pressure. Rated 20A at 12V DC. IP Rating Guide Ingress Protection Ratings define the amount of protection an electronic product (such as a light fixture) has against environmental influence. The two digits represent two different forms of environmental influence. See example: The general rule to follow is the larger the number, the more protected the item is from environmental influence. The following chart gives us a very specific idea of what each number represents: First Number (protection from solids): 0 No Protection 1 Protected against solids objects over 50mm (e.g. accidental touch by hands) 2 Protected against solids objects over 12mm (e.g. fingers) 3 Protected against solids objects over 2.5mm (e.g. tools and wires) 4 Protected against solids objects over 1mm (e.g. tools, wires and small wires) 5 Protected against dust - limited ingress (no harmful deposit) 6 Totally protected against dust Second Number: (protection from liquids) 0 No Protection 1 Protected against vertically falling drops of water 2 Protected against direct sprays up to 15 degrees from the vertical 3 Protected against direct sprays up to 60 degrees from the vertical 4 Protected against sprays from all directions - limited ingress permitted 5 Protected against low pressure jets if water from all directions - limited ingress permitted 6 Protected against strong jets of water e.g. for use on shipdecks - limited ingress permitted 7 Protected against the effects of temporary immersion between 15cm and 1m. Duration of test 30 minutes 8 Protected against long periods of immersion under pressure . |
