Just put a deposit on a 12X. Picking it up next week. Dealer is pushing a "Priority Service Plan". I'm on the fence about this...$2099/3yr, $1499/2yr, $799/1yr. What is the general consensus on this plan?

What dealer? My dealer offered the same thing, I felt it was worth it because I ride a lot.

It was for 3 years, but it included unlimited services with synthetic oil changes, they come and pickup/drop off my bike, discounts on rentals, free detailing, and a points card thing that you earn discounts on P&A and stuff.

Had it for 3 years on my 06 Uly, but after my wreck last fall they wouldn't transfer it onto my replacement. I do my own service now.

Ok thats my dealer : )

As I said before I felt it was worth it, but I rode enough that I would get my moneys worth out of it. The maintenance isn't hard to do. I see in your profile the pic of the gutted tuber, so I am sure you can manage your way around a Uly too no problem.

Read the fine print that mentions your first born, left nut, and bending over. Kidding aside, you do understand that your bike comes with a 2 year warranty. Why on earth would anyone in their right mind pay the dealer ahead of time for service they may not ever have need of, especially with a 2 year warranty??????????????????????? Dealer sure sounds like a crook.

Glider its not a warranty, its a service contract. Actually it worked out quite nice because i had warranty work done at every service! : )

What exactly is a priority service plan?
I've never heard of it before.

Does it mean routine services are pre paid for the duration of the plan?

If that's the case it might be a good deal if you..
A) put a lot of miles on the bike and..
B) don't want to wrench on it yourself

If it has nothing to do with routine services and is just an extended warranty, it seems kind of steep to me.

On Edit: eyes still a little blurry from flu. I totally missed Froggy's post that answered my question. (doh!)

Next question: does it include the usually expensive 10K fork oil change in the deal?

Froggy,
I know the difference between warranty and service but what kind of service is necessary on a new ULY? Again, who in their right mind pays 2100 bucks for oil changes and a few tire changes? They certainly don't give you tires as part of the deal. If he is intent on giving away his money then he'd better make darn sure that the price of oil and filters is part of the deal. Besides if this guy is going to do so much riding then he's got to realize that his service contract is only covered at the place it's purchased. If he is on the road he isn't going to get reimbursed for service done by joe schmuckatelly in tinbuctoo.

EG next time i am there i will get the full details but lets do the quick math.

20,000 miles a year, which is what i was doing when i had the plan.
(All prices off the top of my head! I will get confirmation.)

1k service, $350
5k $350
10k $600
15k 350
20k 600
25k 350
30k 600
35k 350
40k 600

Keep going to 60k miles later, your total is: $6050.

Plus then you got detailings, pickup and delivery, discounts on P&A, exclusive BBQ's, and a few other perks. $2k is a steep pill to swallow, but they over it in 1 and 2 years intervals for less of a price. The service does not include tires. They did not have a problem with my supplying my tires as i got a bulk order of them online and they cost me about half what they would normally.

Of course you will say do the stuff yourself, and that is not an option for many. Hell it was nice and convenient with the pickup and drop off, as I don't have to drive a half hour out of my way and hitch a ride for it. I currently do my services myself, I enjoy it and it is much cheaper. But the issue i run into is the more complicated things like getting fork oil changed, and wondering if I even did the job right.

I got a plan with my bike. I was in the right place at the right time (last couple of days of the model year), and I got it for free with my bike. I usually do all my own work, but I have to say I love having the service plan. It's nice to be able to just drop the bike off and let someone else worry about it.
