A few of us were doing some motor officer training excersizes yesterday during a bbq get together and the clutch got hot, I guess. It was like the belt broke or it was in neutral only neither was the case. I let it cool down for two hours but ended up having to re-adjust it in order to make it ridable again. Have I damaged it? Will I make it to work today? Do I need to order parts?
No, I'm not a LEO. Just honing skills.

I have heard of this before from others doing hard core off roading. As far as i know no harm done : )

Last year on a trip to N.C., I had a flat tire 400 miles into the trip (and 500 miles on a brand new tire ). I plugged the tire with a Stop N Go plug kit that I had bought to replace my trusty twisted rope repair kit.
120 miles later the rubber plug was cut by the steel cords in the tire, and I lost air VERY quickly.
I pulled over and saw the problem, but there was almost no shoulder to attempt a repair, and traffic was flying by at 60 - 70 mph.
It was only a hundred yards or so to a scenic turn-out area ahead, but it was pretty steep uphill. The tire was so flat that I was afraid riding it might unseat the bead, so I tried to push it. Being loaded for the trip, with a flat, pushing was pretty useless, so I tried running the motor in gear while walking alongside. With the tall gearing, I had to slip the clutch more than I liked. Too much more.

Once I replugged the tire, my clutch was almost as bad as you described, but not quite. Any pressure on the clutch lever would cause the clutch to slip.
Once everything cooled down, and I adjusted the clutch per the service manual, (and changing the primary fluid - it REALLY smelled of burnt clutch) it worked fine.

That was 15,000 miles ago, so you probably just shortened the clutch life some. Hard to say how much, but I would try not to worry about it too much.
