Looking for some upgraded footpegs for my 08XT. I mostly do street riding, but I do like to stand up once in a while and don't want to slip. I am not looking for something as aggressive as the Touratech pegs, anyone have something in between?

The 09 footpegs are supposed to be significantly grippier than the earlier versions; see this thread for more info:

~$85 from your dealer.

Those 09' footpegs look to me like more of the same in a flashier package! I really can't say enough about the ones from American Sportbike...

footpeg

easy to install and I've no regrets about getting them!

Like my American Sportbike footpegs - they seem a bit taller - the extra grip is great.

I'm a true believer in the Touratech pegs. I'd read a number of times that Touratech pegs are higher than stock and therefore make the riding position more cramped.

I can honestly say, at 6'2", I don't feel any more cramped than with the stock pegs. The brake lever, however, does present a problem. The Touratech pegs are positioned differently than stock and with the rear brake lever adjusted as high as it will go, it's still barely in reach.

I'm looking at a few options in terms of fabricating a new lever. Once this is accomplished, the Touratechs will be perfect.

The solution for the shifter is to simply shorten the stock shifter.

+3 on the asb pegs. They work great with P/E controls.

Do you think it would be possible to powder coat the OEM pegs with an added "grit" or abrasive product that would bond to the peg and provide better traction?

The 09 pegs are substantially grippier. The angle of the 'nubs' and the textured finish both add up.

But they are still way too narrow for any kind of extended standing time.
