Anyone using either of the new Palmer windshields?

The stock Uly shield represents the most wind "protection" I've ever had on any bike. But after my last trip (see Uly or Rider Limitations: Part II) I think I'm ready to step up.

My shoulders are pretty sore from fighting the wind over the last week and a half. We were averaging 80-90 mph for much of the way.

I'll definitely get the Strada bracket but can't decide whether I should use the stock shield, the Buell Tall shield or one of the new Palmer shields (more than likely the smaller one).

The Brackets and the short shield are pretty good. I did not find that the tall windshield and the brackets worked any better. I have not tried the Palmer windshield.

Its all going to depend on your body size and your riding gear. Tight leathers versus thick textiles makes a difference.

So clean air is quiet, but the eternal pull up is too much after a while, but in trying to get the best wind protection, you induce helmet buffeting. I suppose with a Big Ass Windshield, you might eventually get back to clean/dead air, but neither the tall or short windshield with the Palmer brackets got me to clean/dead air.

I also found that with my summer gear I used a different position on the Palmer brackets compared to my winter gear.

Tipsy,
I currently run the Palmer brackets and the touring screen. I love the setup. I will agree with Gsilvernale on the body, gear and the buffeting. I had to play with the setup before I got it right for me. I ride in all Textile gear (Buell & Olympia).

I read a pretty long thread on ADVrider discussing the windscreen options (Zero Gravity, Touring screen or stock screen) with a Laminar Lip attached at the top. It looked as though that really fit the bill for a lot of riders. It would throw the air high enough over the rider to not cause buffeting.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with the palmer windshield.

I've got the Parabellum shield and am pretty happy with that.
