So I am riding along and approaching a rural intersection where I have right of way and the intersecting road has a stop sign. There is a large blue pickup stopped on my left but starting to creep a bit as I am approaching.

I am watching closely but the windows are tinted and I can't really see the driver. As I am about at the intersection the truck starts to cross the intersection directly in my path. I am right on top of the intersection and stopping is not really an option - going about 40. I hit the horn and swerve to the right and pow the bike is hit with a thump just as my body has cleared the front of the truck.

Bike wobbles, recovers and I coast to the side of the road and onto the berm. I am ok thank goodness but shaken. I look at the back of the bike and it looks strangely normal.

Driver did not stop from what I can tell. I pulled it together and rode back to the intersection and stopped for greater examination. Truck was gone.

I know I got hit but Uly is fine. On careful examination I see the rear plastic fender was hit just to the side of the license plate. A shinny rub mark is visible but no real damage. The plastic fender must have taken the impact by bending. No damage to anything that I can find.

I am pissed the driver did not stop but feeling fortunate the Uly took the hit with such resilience. I can't see how the license plate or the fender reflector could not have been bent or scratched but I can't find anything out of place or damaged. Could have been MUCH worse.

My neck is sore for some reason probably related to the tension or impact somehow. Uly is fine. I may need to put a louder horn on my wish list.

Close call. I have near hits almost everyday with all the old folks that think they rule the road around here. Thankfully have never been hit. Thank your lucky stars. Then thank them again

I hate that! I like to be able to see their eyes. I want to know they looked right at me. If I can't see that I assume I'm invisible and prepare for the worst. I've had a few close calls but I've been lucky enough to be on 4 wheels when ever my luck came up short.

You better assume you are invisible even IF you can see their eyes! Or better yet, that they just drew a bead on you and you are the motorcyclist version of an elk in elk season.

Chase the SOB down the next time and hit him in the chops as hard as he hit your bike. Pisses me off and it happened to you. Glad you are ok.

Glad your OK. I puckered up just reading about it! If that happened to me, my sphincter would be in a cast right now!

Electraglider_1997 nails it.

Good friend was killed on a bike the 1st. Someone ran into him.

You're lucky.

I think I would want to call the police...but I wasn't there. I hope I never get hit by another car. Another bike? Maybe that would be understandable.

Glad to hear that you're upright and well! Take that lesson well and tell as many fellow riders about it...that's how we build our skills.

As far as I can tell, there are two kinds of motorcycle riders in this world my friend. Those of us that have been down and those who will go down. When and where is anybodies guess.
