Fortunately, it was as I was pulling into the gas station.

The low fuel tripmeter showed only 24.1 miles on it. I'm not 100% sure how many total miles I'd gone, but I believe it was about 180 or so. (I forgot to check, and zeroed my tripmeter). It took 4.327 gallons to fill it back up, which seems about right. (It's a 4.4 gallon tank, right?) Once I got the fuel in, it cranked right up, which was reassuring.

Once ran out of gas, a block from my dad's gas station. Also took 4.3xx gallons. Unfortunately the station was up the hill, so i couldn't coast to it. After sitting for a minute i tried again and it fired right up, so i quickly got to the station before it ran out of juice again.

is the Buell the only bike with a low fuel odometer that counts UP? wtf? it would be kinda handy to know how many miles i have left in the tank. my Road King counts down like "most" other recent HDs.

Ive seen a few jap bikes that count up. The only way it would be able to count down is if the bike had a fuel gauge. The light comes on at .8 gallons remaining, or about 40 miles.

24.1 miles on your trip meter when you ran out of gas?

I've ran my Uly over 35 several times and have never ran out of gas. I almost always get over 200 miles on a tank of gas, unless I've been running it very hard.

Hmm, I wonder why? Like I said, I remember checking the Zumo tripmeter after the light came on, and it was around 155 or 160. So I'm estimating about 180 miles total on 4.3 gallons of gas. It was about 150 miles of open road riding, and 30 miles of stop-and-go city riding.

I have been blipping the throttle a lot more since I got one of Odie's pipes put on there...
