I was wondering if I was able to send my muffler in this winter and convert it to a drummer exaust...well my actual question is,

Will te 08's handle the muffler without any tinkering to the ECM.

and does the actuator still need to be used on the drummer...

and is there any type of loss in power...

Thanks much

Yes you can do it no tinkering, but you will get popping on decel. There is no ECM tuning option for your bike yet.

The valve is not used

You will not loose any power.

My check engine light is on now that I have a drummer. Dealer said it will have to stay on forever since the cable/valve is not used on a drummer. Is this true?

Yes and no. The valve isn't used on the Drummer. The check engine light will go off when you reconnect the servo thats located on top of the airbox. Just connect it, it will make the computer think the valve is working and doing its thing.

I run a drummer on my 06 X, disconnected the cable at the muffler and left the other end connected to the (still plugged in) servo, and no light. Just zip-tied the lower end of the cable out of the way and let it be...

Thanks Ratbuell....

My other concern is K&N with a drummer...can this still be done witout other mods....and how about noise levels...does a drummer sound good or annoyingly loud.

I've read some guys buy an old exhaust from ebay to send in just to keep their stock one...bad idea or not?

Yes it can be done without other mods. The drummer does sound good, but it is loud. The race pipe is among the quieter pipes if noise is an issue.

Alot of people buy a stock exhaust so they can send that to Kevin so he can cut it up. By doing it this way you reduce down time because you can still ride your bike with your stock pipe on it till the drummer comes in. Once you get the drummer on you put your stock on Ebay and get your cash back : )
