just picked up a previously owned 2008 XB12X. I purchased it from someone in Dallas Tx and Rode it home. Love the bike and was wondering if there are other XB12X'ers in my neck of the woods. I know that there has to be a couple of you here, since I couldn't find not one 2008 XB12X anywhere in socal.

None that I am aware of... I usually ride Sunday mornings. And, I usually ride alone. That way I'm not holding anyone up or visa versa.

You're in luck, Glendale B/HD is Buell-friendly and enthusiastic. Call Ernie there at 818-246-5618. Might be able to give you some info.

@Teeps: thanks
@Xbimmer: I'm gonna stop by there later today. I've got a buddy thats really interested in getting a Uly so were gonna see when the 09's are gonna be available.

I'm really close to Angeles Crest and find myself riding up there afterwork(once this week and twice last week) since I got the bike. I've got enough miles on it so I can now register the bike here in california but I'm pretty sure that riding up the Crest will be on the agenda for next week as well.
FYI, if anyone is interested I'll be riding 2up out towards Buellton Sunday morning. Details could be worked out once were there : )

Newcomb's is where we ride every Thursday (today was called off because so many folks left for extended vacation) - Glendale is the CENTER of the Buell activity on that side of the hill. Ernie in Sales, Josh and Serge in parts, Eric and Don in service... all Buell fans.

We're trying to re-start the last-Sunday-of-the-month riding again.

They'll often have a ride to Willow Springs for the races - 3rd Sunday of the month. It's not a Glendale HD organized ride but a ride put together by a bunch of the locals.

@Slaughter,Xbimmer: I haven't been to Newcomb's in years but would love to take a ride up there next Thursday. What's the usuall time?

@Teeps: the Boss(wife) settled on Santa Barbara. So I'll top the gas tank off at the Shell at the bottom of the hill around 11am. It would be great if there were others that are still in town and want a short ride up to Santa Barbara on Sunday to join in.

We usually depart from Palmdale at 4:30 - that puts us at Newcomb's at 5:30

Realize that we are on the "OTHER SIDE" of the mountains. We'd just be meeting up at Newcomb's with you.

The ride from Glendale is really nice - except that you are kinda stuck in traffic. Commuter traffic at the end of the day is going up and over the mountains. It's not bad coming from our direction.

Remember - DOUBLE FINE ZONES!! Tickets are expensive

Yes, that would be the one...
11am is later than I like to get started, but I'll see how it goes.
If you see a Orange Uly with a black/black low seat, that will most likely be me.
If
I'm not there when you arrive, don't wait.

@Slaughter: count me in for Thursday. I'm on a Red Uly
@Teeps: the shell at the bottom of the hill is under construction. The 76 is still around. Also, the wife cancelled on me so Santa Barbara is off the list so I can meet up when ever. If you want to get an earlier start let me know. Maybe Xbimmer could meet up with us?

I'll have my black-and-orange Buell S3. We usually have a pretty laid back mix of everything from cruisers to a couple of TransAlp Hondas to a CBR1000... and we always sit in the middle with a few tables pulled together.

Hi guys.
I'm in the San Fernando Valley, and I'm always up for a ride... Angeles Crest or anywhere else. Please keep me posted if there's a ride happening. It would be great to meet some other local Uly owners.

@Rayinla: I'm heading up to Newcombs on Thurday to meetup with Slaughter. I've never meet him or his riding group but should be a fun ride. anything to get out of work early. The Shell at the bottom of the hill is under construction but if you want and are up to it lets ride up together. we can meet at the 76 since its still there at around 4:45 then shoot on up to Newcombs.
Xbimmer, how are the forks comming?

Xbimmer, how are the forks comming?

Didn't do them, broke my side case lid retainers and putzed around working on a replacement.

Forks aren't a big deal anyway, got the tools and keep them serviced so a couple more weeks won't hurt.

Chompin at the bit for a place to go since we moved to San Bernardino 4 months ago... Rock Store withdrawals...

We're definitely ON this Thursday.

Just be aware that the evening traffic can be pretty heavy from Glendale up to Newcomb's... actually between Upper Big Tujunga and Newcomb's it is not that bad as most of the commuters have gone down Angeles Forest Hwy.

Pass carefully - and remember, it IS a double fine zone. Busting over the double yellow and unsafe and speeding can cost over $1000. Just a warning... not that MY riding is perfect and 100% legal all the time, just keep on your toes.

That would be me.

I tried to catch up but with every other M/C going down the hill tapping their lid. I just did the speed limit.

Rode out to Aliso Canyon Rd., then to Sand Canyon over Osborne, then back home to Torrance.

This Sunday, Sept. 7, a loose knit group known as SCAB, will be riding up Angeles Crest. The email list is maintained by American Sport Bike. We will be leaving from the Shell Station at the bottom of the hill (if under construction, the Union 76 on the other corner). Arrive at 10am, kickstands up at 10:15am. There will be plenty of Buells, and at least a 2+ Ulys.

Hey Teeps,
Sorry we didn't get the chance to meet. The Crest was carnage, as usual, with the sheriff helicopter landing to pick up crashed squids.

I think you offered to help me with ECMSpy a few months back, so I hope we get the chance to ride someday soon.

Usroute66, I'll try to keep an eye on the American Sport Bike list. I'll try to catch up with y'all on Sunday

Just a minor correction:

Al Lighton (me) maintains the SCAB mail list.

And Al Lighton (me) runs American Sport Bike.

But American Sport Bike and SCAB are very separate, and must be, due to liability concerns. SCAB is a loose collection of Buell enthusiasts that get together once a month. On even months, we meet on Wednesday night at Knowlwoods in Yorba Linda for a burger and Buell talk, and on odd months we do a group ride to the destination determined at the previous months meeting.

And in July, SCAB hosts three campsites right on the Laguna Seca Corkscrew for the MotoGP/AM event, which is Buell-Central for the event. Last year and this, we also host the same two camp sites for the September AMA final event. This year, that is September 26th-28th, so if anyone is planning on going, you have a place to camp at the track if you want. A few folks are riding up to that, so if you want to ride with them, contact me. Or even if you want to just ride part way there and turn around, as I'm sure they'll be doing the mighty 33 on the way there (great road)

If you want to be added to the mail list for local and Buell event notices, send mail to alighton at roadrunner dot com and I'll add you. It doesn't generate spam or anything like that, just a couple mail messages a month.

For this weekend, see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 390352.html?1220536085#POST1245192

And on a separate note, see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/391857.html?1220493235#POST1244826

I drove the 138 on my way back from Dallas and had seen the rocks. http://www.1000wordsphotos.com/cajonpass/index.htm l

Looks like there was a lot of sand down there, have you taken the uly through it? curious to know how knarly it is. I'm contemplating doing the Death Valley Days in Jan but have'nt seen one Uly on the roster.
