Ok guys.. new owner here.. only have 100 miles on my XT. Now.. I need more light! I want to put on a set of PIAAs... I heard of the Ulytility, but they are out of business. Anyone have a bracket that they want to sell? Does anyone manufacture one with the Ulytility?? |

I have a pair of the PIAA 510s on my GME bar. If I were doing this mod now I would probably go with these: http://www.trailtech.net/4212-SX.html The Uly is slowly shaking the 510s apart; it's almost time to take the lights apart for some reinforcing work. |

It says "self contained", does that mean just wire it in and your good, or do you have an additional ballast? |

Self- contained as you described. HID SCMR16: 5600K 1850 lumens World's first MR16 HID light with a self-contained ballast. No remote ballast to be installed. When only the best will do, these are the lights for you. At 30 watts, they are virtually plug and play, and their light output is intense. 3 times brighter than halogen. Sounds good to me. |

And they look like they belong on a Uly too. Nice. |

Is anyone using the MR16 HIDs now? Review? Pictures? |

I've seen them on the ADVrider site. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22 6135&highlight=lights+Trail+tech Examples are KTM specific, but you get the idea. |

I need more light! I want to put on a set of PIAAs... Chris, I too have Piaa 510's mounted on the GME bar. But I also have slim digital HID's on both my low and high beam lights. These put out A LOT of light. In fact, when both the low and high HID are illuminated, using the Piaa's hardly makes a noticeable difference. That said, I like the way the Piaa's look on the bike. But if you're truly looking for more "all the time " light, I'd highly recommend installing an HID on at least your low beam. Tipsy |

I had MR16's when they worked they produced a lot of light but mine would not always start and usually not stay on for more than 10 minutes. The problems could have been caused because I mounted them upside down and found out later that the area were the wires enter is not sealed. |

I Mounted a set of PIAA 004XT lights, (55 watt super White), on a light bar I machined from an 18" pc. of aluminum. mounted it under the headlights, in the holes on the tree. ran the wires from the battery, along with the original wire trace. (of course they were wrapped with 3M high temperature wrap), same as factory. Mounted the switch to the right of the "Idiot" lights, but to the side of the GPS. The lights are awesome. I bought them from "Trend Auto" on EBay.$114.00 Helluva deal. The lights are 2.250 in Dia. (very small), but do a great job of lighting the Northern Michigan night! |

I made my own light bar. I had the Ulytility bar and it couldn't hold onto the PIAA 510's off road and kept breaking. I used some old aluminum stock I had lying around. Turned out real nice. It's seen plenty of off road time as well as street time. No cracks, no breaks..just steady light. I used an old mouse pad to create some vibration isolation between the triple and the light bar. Here's a few pics. Cost me maybe $5 and about 30 minutes of my time to make. |

The Uly is slowly shaking the 510s apart; it's almost time to take the lights apart for some reinforcing work. Now I haven't tried this but why not drill the mounting holes out more and install some rubber isolators to act as a shock absorber for the lights. It seems logical but of course like I said I haven't tried this idea. I am still trying to figure out what lights I want to install! |

Chris: You will also need to use rubber washers on both sides of the mount, however, when you tighten everything down do the light does not move, vibration will still be there. Not as severe, but still there. Good Luck tom Buells to Alaska ALCAN 5000 2010 |

I had no issues with my PIAA 510's on the Ulytility bar.

On the 510 lamp, the body is held to the mounting bracket by 3 rivets. ONE lamp only was starting to get loose at the rivets, even though I had used rubber washers in my original installation. I re-did the rivets, pressing them again. I felt this would only be a temporary solution until the relatively soft rivet worked itself loose again. It was. I drilled out all 3 rivets the other day, and replaced them with SS button head allens, with a washer and nut on the inside of the shell. Loctited, of course. So far, so good. I work in the evening, and don't ride home until anywhere from midnight to 5 am, through the Florida swampland. Literally. I need to see the gators, deer, hogs, raccoons, armadillos, etc. BEFORE they see me ! |
