Just spooned on a new set of Distanzias, as the very capable Syncs were about ready to show off their belts. After completing the tire change and putting it all back together,I noticed that on the left side (opposite of the rotor side) there is about a 1/10th inch gap between the front fork and the bearing. The right side fork is right up against the bearing. Torqued it to spec, and no left over parts. (like a washer or spacer) Looked in the factory manual to see if I missed anything. Didnt notice the 'gap' before. Did I miss something, or is this just the way it is ?? Thanks for any help to either rest my mind or get busy with a "do over" .

That sounds about right on the distance from the bearing on the left side..just had my front wheel off today too. The correct way is to tighten the axle and leave the two pinch bolts loose.. then see it the left fork will slide freely on the axle... (pull it left and right)then bounce the forks with the brake...this aligns the fork tubes...then hold the bike straight up and down and tighten the two pinch bolts.....

Thanks Adrian - I will loosen up the pinch bolts and do the 'fork tube alignment dance' to see if anything changes. Tomorrow I tackle the rest of the 5000mi service. Taking the Uly camping / fishing over in Idaho early Sept. It can't cast very well yet, but it's an 08 and still a pup. It does like to camp though. Thanks for the tip and reassurance. Aint retirement great ?! Made me wonder why I worked so long. Happy Hunting ! j
